1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?

I had a feeling that he was going to do that to her when they went into the forest. It was devastating. I actually ended up skipping ahead many pages looking to see if he really did what I thought he was going to do.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?

Yes. Many times with the same guy. I'm finally letting it slip away, I think.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?

I was hoping that he would come back, but it wasn't expected. It's Edward.=[

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.

I just felt bad for Bella, and I felt like crying. I was crying.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.

I was crying and my heart was breaking. It still does every time I read that book.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise? In a way I knew it was coming. Once he started becoming distant, I knew something big was lurking ahead and it wouldn't be pretty. Still, I didn't want to face it. Things were so perfect how they were.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away? I haven't had that experience yet, I'm happy to say.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did? I knew he would be gone for a while. He wouldn't be back immediately. But I thought he had to be coming back. I didn't think it would take nearly as long as it did. A few weeks at the most.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence. Eh. I don't know. I was just upset. I kind of didn't want anyone else to come. I just wanted Edward back, really.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.Just wow. The way they did it was really creative, in my opinion. But at the time, reality that he wasn't back for that length of time really hit me. Each page was another month and I just kept feeling worse. I had to take a break from the book for a few minutes, I was crying so hard. I couldn't even see the words anymore. I'm emotional like that.

Question,
it says that during their talk in the woods, "some emotion" is portrayed on Bella's face, and "something" flashes across Edward's face & disappears before Bella is able to catch what it was.

I'm thinking that Edward may have seen her pain, and responded with a tiny glimpse of pain of his own, but I am kind of lost here. Any idea what this was?

I think it was either pain or he was shocked that it was so easy to convince her, like at the end of the book when he talks about how he couldn't believe it was so easy to make her believe him.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?
I knew something was up the second day in which he barely spoke. I definitely knew something was really coming when Edward wanted to see her after school, which was odd because in the days prior, he'd made sure to keep his distance.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?
I did once, but I realize now it wasn't really worth it. Even though I see it wasn't worth it now, then it seemed much more reasonable to want to hold on to something so new and "exhilerating." I could feel her desperation when she was pleading. it made me feel desperate as well.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?
At first I thought he might come back to her, or at least say he was just leaving her for a little while, not permanently. But when I felt how cold he was about it all, it sank in a bit more. Even though I knew he didn't mean he didn't want to be with her. I cried the entire rest of that chapter. I actually loathed him momentarily after all of that.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.
I didn't really have a gut reaction to him. I was relieved and angry at the same time though. That he was taking her out of the cold and such, but I still sort of hoped it would be Edward who would come to the rescue like so many times before.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.
Well, geez, it just made me cry even more. Even with the blank pages, I felt so much anguish for Bella. Having to live without her one true love for months and months on end. And the absence of his presence made even me, a reader, feel lonely.

Overall, This chapter was just a big cry fest.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?
-I knew somethiing was wrong, and i also knew that he was going to leave, because of the back of the book, but I was still sort of shocked, I aslo cried!

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?
-Not really, but that's probably becasue I've never been in a relation ship like Bella, so completely in love with a guy!

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?
-It was really harsh, as I've said i cried, but I knew he was giong to come back eventually, or at leats i hoped he would. But I started reading them after Eclipse came out, so I knew that something happened.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.
-I didn't really notice him at the time, except that I found it odd that she described it as sounding like a dog. But that makes sense now!

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages
-What Is that?

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?
It took me by surprise. Couldn't believe it.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?
Yes.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?
I didn't believe him. I didn't want to, even continue. I was in tears already.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.
Wasn't paying attention to him much.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.
I was shocked that he wasn't there. Or that he stayed away that long. I was crying like an idiot. :( I couldn't stand that he was gone. It was too sad.
"But," Edward went on, "If I had been able to take your place last night, it would not have made the top ten of the best nights of my life. Dream about that."

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?
I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach- I knew something bad was going to happen but I didn't know what, and that made me even more nervous.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?
Well, not really because I've never had a relationship like hers.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?
I couldn't believe what had happened when he was talking, but it felt the same pain she did. I had to put the book down because I was feeling so sick to my stomach.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.
I thought he wasn't a good person at the time. For some reason or another, he gave me the creeps.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.
For me, this was the most powerful part of the chapter, and the point where I started blubbering like a baby. I could feel the emptiness of all of that time that never could have been put into words so potently. I love that she did the same thing in the Host and it was just as effective. Both times resulted in tearmarks on my books

I reread this part and it's right after he tells her that he doesn't want her anymore. He asks her if she'll do something for him. I think at that moment Edward is in agony because she believed him and when he asks his question, he sees hope in her eyes and it tears him apart to the point where he can't disguise his pain. That is the something that flashes across Edward's face. IMHO.
