Chapter Three: The End

Post by Alphie » Sat Apr 07, 2007 11:11 am

Questions prepared by Cocoa

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?
I had an idea of what would happen because of the spoilers on the back of the book; "It was like he never left." or whatever it says, I don't have New Moon on me right now. The chapter depressed me.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?
Not really. I've never been in a relationship worth grabbing onto in such a way.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?
I didn't believe the not loving her anymore part, but I didn't think he'd just run back that second.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.
I wasn't sure what would happen, I didn't pay much attention to his character at first to be honest. xD

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.
They made me cry.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?

Well, I knew he was going to leave from a spoiler I read (grrr) but the whole beginning of the chapter was very ominous for me. Edward not talking=not good.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?

Well, I was having that feeling while I was reading the book but never in real life have I felt that.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?

You know, I really don't know. I didn't expect him to come back, but I was wishing and hoping despite the fact I knew he wasn't. And I never believed him. It was so obvious he loved her, but I can believe that Bella truly did believe him.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.

I didn't really have a reaction worth noting. I thought he seemed very nice, like a protective older brother or something.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.

I went sort of numb. I didn't cry, or get angry. I just read it. So you could say my reaction to the whole ordeal, him leaving and Bella going into zombie mode, was very similar to Bella's.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise? I knew what was going to happen when Alice and Jasper left, more so when he was at the woods. They way he was acting you could tell he was thinking about leaving.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away? Of course you hope for the best and if you feel the way Bella felt for Edward there is that thread of hope even if you feel that all is lost.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did? Well to me it felt real but of course I was hoping that he would just say, "Never mind I love you again!" I didn't believe him because if that was the case then that would mean that Edward would be gone forever!!! NO!

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence. Oh I really didn't know where the book was going, other than his character would obviously reveal himself.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.
I cried and felt what Bella felt. That is why I also love how she writes because you can really feel her words.

1. I already knew he was going to leave from a spoiler I read, sadly. So I figured that given the circumstances, he was going to leave soon. Everything in the chapter spelled "Wrong"

2. I have done that while reading books, but never in real life.

3. I didn't want to believe him, that's for sure. I didn't believe him at first because I was just in so much shock. I was hoping for him to come back. But later I realized that he definately wasn't coming back for a while at least.

4. I didn't have any gut reaction to him. Nothing seemed wrong about him to me.

5. I flipped through them in shock, then went back and went through them again. Then I just dove into the book, desperate to know what happened next.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?

I knew that he would he was going to leave but it was still shocking and I still cried for hours. Even if I didn't know he was going to leave as distant as he was I would have figured it out.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?

I haven't been in a love relationship like this but I did lose a really good friendship.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?

I didn't beleive that he didn't love her. But I also didn't think that he would come running back to her I knew they would have other stuff to go through before they could be together again.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.

I didn't really have a reaction.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.

I cried and I was depressed that she had to go through all that pain.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?
Yes, I most definitely felt a foreboding in this chapter. . . unfortunately. I felt like it was coming in the first chapter, even! Edward was just acting. . . timid, distant, different.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?
Yes, I have had a subconcious desire to grasp hold of a relationship slipping away. You just don't want it to go. . . so you'll pretty much do anything to get the relationship back on track. But as in Bella's case, I guess that didn't happen. . .

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?
Yes, it grasped reality for me as it did for Bella. His voice was musical and polite, but then it takes a harsh tone. . . which got me afraid at the time that he was having second thoughts in their relationship. I wasn't entirely expecting that Edward would run back to Bella at any moment, but I was 100% wanting that to happen. Yes, in some ways, I did believe him as readily as Bella. . . but I really hoped he would come to his senses. I mean. . . sure they are different, but should that come between their full and devoted love for each other? I didn't believe so.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.
When Sam appeared during the search, my gut feeling was: OH MY GOSH. He must be a werewolf. (No, I didn't look ahead in the book, I just read the summary on one of the first pages in New Moon and the 'cult' they described got me wondering.) I wanted him to go away.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.
Oh my God. How can I start? After I had a good and lonnnggg cry about what happened in the forest (even looking back makes me sad  ), and read this part, I immediately went back to crying!!! It was so freaking sad. So sad.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?

I did. I had worried in the previous chapter, but the further into this one we got, the more sick I felt.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?

Absolutley. I think most people have felt a feeling much like this before, that is why it resonates so strongly!

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?

I didn't believe him at ALL! I knew what he was up to, but I didn't expect him to stay away so long

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.

Ugh.
5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.

I started sobbing again! I still do everytime I get to that part, it makes my stomach turn!

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?
The way he acted was a dead give away. He was being very distant with Bella and was avoiding alone time with her. He was working up the courage to do something I felt he didn't really want to do but felt he had to. Stupid boy.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?
Somewhat. It was the first guy I ever really dated, and at that time I was dealing with a lot of personal issues. Being with him helped me forget my problems so when he left (his family moved away) everything that he had helped me forget came back in a rush and left me feeling broken. I never really loved him, not the way that I should have, I just loved how he made me forget and I wanted to hold on to him for that reason alone.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?
After this speech, I was very angry with Edward for letting Bella believe he didn't love her. I knew their love was the kind that couldn't change in an instant. I just felt that he was looking for an easy out because he felt that this was best for Bella. I really couldn't believe how easily Bella believed him, but if you think someone doesn't love you back then it's easier to let them leave. Fighting would have just prolonged the pain.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.
Gut reaction? Nothing really. I'm not very observant.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.
I flipped through them, saw the next chapter, then flipped through them again. I felt her pain in those empty months.

1. Did you feel a sense of foreboding in this chapter? At what point did you feel what was coming? Or did it take you by surprise?
Edward's kiss on the other chapter. The title of the chapter. And then, Edward ignoring Bella for days. It was happening something and I knew that this thing wasn't good.

2. Just as Bella did, have you ever felt that subconscious desire to grasp a hold of a relationship slipping away?
Yes, I have. Once. But the idea had disappeared of my mind few seconds later.

3. Edward speech was definitely a harsh one, but did it grasp reality for you as it did for Bella? Or were you expecting him to run back to her at any moment? Did you believe him as readily as Bella did?
I cried as I never cried with a book in my life. I couldn't believe what Edward said. I thought inmediatly that something had happened to him, that, for some reason, he had to tell Bella those things.

4. When Sam appeared during the search, describe your gut reaction to his presence.
I thought that it would have been explained in some chapters because I didn't understand what was doing Sam there.

5. Describe your reaction as you read the 'Months' pages.
I feel as the time passed slowly on Bella's life and I could feel part of her pain.
