1.i think that bella is the only one who really notices edward, HOWEVER...others notice them to in ways. For instance, mike newton DEFINITELY notices him for being with bella.
also, bella was an emotional wreck when edward left. it definitely showed when they left through her.
(don't know what number it was)when there was an encounter with the black bear, i automatically knew it wasn't a bear. alot of stories i've read, people are usually clueless, calling it a dog, bear, or "unknown wild animal". i've gotten used to it, and when i read this, i already knew there was going to be werewolves. they spoke abnormally about the bear, and i think that was stephenie's small hint of what the signifficance of it all was.
srry for bad spelling...i'm really tired : )

Yeah...I had an Edward...and a Jake...but my Edward left, and so did my Jake....and now im alone. :(

1) Is Bella the only one affected by the Cullens leaving? How has 'nothing changed' in their absence?

I think pretty much yeah because no one else was really involved with the Cullens other then Bella

2) Why is the dream different than before? Did Bella's renewed contact with Jacob's family change her perception of Sam Uley? How so and why?

not sure... confused with this question...

3) Why would Bella not want to be invisible now, when she wanted to be invisible last year?

4) How is Charlie affected by this new Bella? Does he perceive how much of it is Jacob's doing?

yeah I think charlie sees that Jacob is helping her get back to her normal state but with a scarred heart

5) This is the second mention of the monstrous black bear. Did you realize at this point that there was more to it than that? What did you think was going on? Did you think it would turn into what it did?

I didn't know I just thought that there were enormous bears running around and maybe something else?

1) Is Bella the only one affected by the Cullens leaving? How has 'nothing changed' in their absence?
Honestly, yes. The other people she interacts with don't have any relation to the Cullens, so it doesn't personally affect them, but it affects someone they know- Bella. Nothing has changed in their absence because Bella still devotes her time to them...even if she doesn't think about them, her trance is caused by them. She hardly interacts with the people around her when they're there, and when they're not, so nothing has changed.

2) Why is the dream different than before? Did Bella's renewed contact with Jacob's family change her perception of Sam Uley? How so and why?
Sam shows up in the dream, and I don't think her perception has changed...in the dream, and in reality, something isn't right with Sam and Bella knows it well enough to steer clear of him.

3) Why would Bella not want to be invisible now, when she wanted to be invisible last year?
She wasn't completely invisible last year, even though she wanted to be...truthfully she wasn't, especially to the Cullens, so she never knew how it really felt. Now she knows it isn't the best thing to want to be.

4) How is Charlie affected by this new Bella? Does he perceive how much of it is Jacob's doing?
I think he does realize that Jacob is doing his part in cheering Bella up, but he doesn't realize how much Bella still isn't back to normal.

5) This is the second mention of the monstrous black bear. Did you realize at this point that there was more to it than that? What did you think was going on? Did you think it would turn into what it did?
Yes. Now that it had been mentioned more than once, it's obviously important...if it hadn't been, then it would've made the storyline drag on and I would've been confused.

1) Is Bella the only one affected by the Cullens leaving? How has 'nothing changed' in their absence?
Immediately, Bella really seems to be the only one affected by the Cullens leaving. But that affects her and so other people are affected. Take Charlie, for instance. He had a teenage daughter who, even though got into trouble once in a while, was full of energy and life. The Cullens leave and Charlie is left with a Zombie Daughter. Any other immediate reactions to the Cullens leaving are pretty minor though, besides the Quilete(hope I spelled it right...) tribe, I think the hospital was probably affected by Carlilse leaving, and I'm sure Ms. Cope missed Edward, as well... haha

2) Why is the dream different than before? Did Bella's renewed contact with Jacob's family change her perception of Sam Uley? How so and why?
Bella has seen Sam through Jacob's eyes now. Jake doesn't like Sam, so now in Bella's dreams she definately does not feel comfortable with him nearby- just watching. Kind of creepy. Jake and Bella are intertwined by their emotions. If one feels happy, the other will feel happy; if one is sad, the other one feels sad; if one feels uncomfortable around someone, the other will feel uncomfortable around that same someone. Get what I'm saying?

3) Why would Bella not want to be invisible now, when she wanted to be invisible last year?
Hmmm... I had to think about this one a while. Let's see if I can word this correctly... Last year, Bella was the big, new thing. Everyone wanted to see the new girl from Phoenix, everyone gave her unwanted attention, and yada yada yada.
A year later, she doesn't want to feel invisible. This is because during her zombie months, people started to tune Bella out- just like Bella did to them. Her Zombie months were her Invisible months. Now, she's not a zombie and coming out from under her invisibility cloak (hah! Harry Potter reference!), but everyone else is not used to it yet. They are still tuning her out. They're giving her her invisibility a year too late. Ok. I think that makes sense.

4) How is Charlie affected by this new Bella? Does he perceive how much of it is Jacob's doing?
Charlie was going through absolute hell with Zombie-Bella. With the new Jacob-Bella, he is definately seeing a major change. I don't think he's sees the change the exact way that Bella does, but he does see a change. And he's glad someone, Jacob, can make her a little better, if not repaired.

5) This is the second mention of the monstrous black bear. Did you realize at this point that there was more to it than that? What did you think was going on? Did you think it would turn into what it did?
I'm not quite sure. I think maybe, at one point, I thought it was Edward, haha. Wishful thinking. But no, that idea evaporated quickly. I don't know. I guess I thought something was going to happen with "the bear" but, still noting major. Hah. How I was wrong...

1) Is Bella the only one affected by the Cullens leaving? How has 'nothing changed' in their absence?
Bella was the one who was closest to them, and the one to whom they mattered most. It's pretty natural that no one was really bothered.

2) Why is the dream different than before? Did Bella's renewed contact with Jacob's family change her perception of Sam Uley? How so and why?
I think Bella has some kind of ability to predict what's going to happen through her dreams. They always foreshadow something.

3) Why would Bella not want to be invisible now, when she wanted to be invisible last year?
She doesn't want to be lonely. She wants people to talk to her and distract her from thinking about the pain she's feeling.

4) How is Charlie affected by this new Bella? Does he perceive how much of it is Jacob's doing?
Charlie seems a lot happier with Bella's new attitude. I think he does realize that Jacob is a big part of her happiness at that time. He seems grateful to Jacob for being a good friend.

5) This is the second mention of the monstrous black bear. Did you realize at this point that there was more to it than that? What did you think was going on? Did you think it would turn into what it did?
I thought it might have been important, just because it showed up more than once. I still didn't know what it would turn out to be.

) Is Bella the only one affected by the Cullens leaving? How has 'nothing changed' in their absence?

I think that Bella is the only one effected by most of the Cullens leaving, but if you think about it the whole town lost a great docter when Carlilse left.

2) Why is the dream different than before? Did Bella's renewed contact with Jacob's family change her perception of Sam Uley? How so and why?

I don't know...I still thought Sam was always kind of out there.

3) Why would Bella not want to be invisible now, when she wanted to be invisible last year?

Because she didn't want to start all over again.

4) How is Charlie affected by this new Bella? Does he perceive how much of it is Jacob's doing?

I think he doesn't know how much Jacob is effecting Bella's life...making it better and such

5) This is the second mention of the monstrous black bear. Did you realize at this point that there was more to it than that? What did you think was going on? Did you think it would turn into what it did?

I realized that this black bear thing was going to come up alot in the book...and It didn't turn in to what i thought it would.
"Before you, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars - points of light and reason...and then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything."

1) Is Bella the only one affected by the Cullens leaving? How has 'nothing changed' in their absence?

Well, I think that because Bella was the only one who ever got close to the Cullens, that she was the only one truly affected by their leaving. I think that the hospital was missing Carlisle by this point, though. I was, too.

2) Why is the dream different than before? Did Bella's renewed contact with Jacob's family change her perception of Sam Uley? How so and why?

I think that she started learning more about Sam, and thus could make a more well-informed opinion on him. And so I was actually very curious about this Uley boy...

3) Why would Bella not want to be invisible now, when she wanted to be invisible last year?

I think that since she was trying to get back into her "normal" life, she wanted people to interact with. And since she had been so depressed for the last few months, nobody noticed her.

4) How is Charlie affected by this new Bella? Does he perceive how much of it is Jacob's doing?

I think that Charlie thinks that Bella might drop back into the zombie stage at any moment, and he is watching out for that.

5) This is the second mention of the monstrous black bear. Did you realize at this point that there was more to it than that? What did you think was going on? Did you think it would turn into what it did?

I didn't have any idea that it was what it was. I guess I should have paid more attention to the reports, because they were important! I hate to admit it, but at the time I was like "Who cares about stupid bears! Gimme Edward back!!!!!" Heh. Heh...

1) Is Bella the only one affected by the Cullens leaving? How has 'nothing changed' in their absence?

Yes, because Bella was the closer human to them. Maybe in the hospital, they missed Carlisle, but not too much.

2) Why is the dream different than before? Did Bella's renewed contact with Jacob's family change her perception of Sam Uley? How so and why?

I'm not sure, but it seems that Bella can see the possibilities for her life in her dreams.

3) Why would Bella not want to be invisible now, when she wanted to be invisible last year?

Because she wanted to speak to somebody and nobody spoke to her.

4) How is Charlie affected by this new Bella? Does he perceive how much of it is Jacob's doing?

Charlie was... sad, because he knew how much pain was suffering her daughter. Then, when Bella went to Jacob's house, he started to see that Jacob was a good friend.

5) This is the second mention of the monstrous black bear. Did you realize at this point that there was more to it than that? What did you think was going on? Did you think it would turn into what it did?

Yes, I realized that there was something more to give action to the book. I thought there was a new monster.

1) Is Bella the only one affected by the Cullens leaving? How has 'nothing changed' in their absence?

To me it seemed like nothing had changed because none of the others ever interacted with the Cullens. Bella was the only one really affected.

2) Why is the dream different than before? Did Bella's renewed contact with Jacob's family change her perception of Sam Uley? How so and why?

Yes, she felt like he was more menacing because Jacob was afraid of him. I wondered if her dreams were some how foreshadowing though. He subconscious seemed to already know what was going on.

3) Why would Bella not want to be invisible now, when she wanted to be invisible last year?

Because it would mean that everyone had forgotten Edward. She really hated the 'as thought I'd never existed' plan.

4) How is Charlie affected by this new Bella? Does he perceive how much of it is Jacob's doing?

I think he knows its Jacob's doing. He seems relieved that someone else is doing what he couldn't.

5) This is the second mention of the monstrous black bear. Did you realize at this point that there was more to it than that? What did you think was going on? Did you think it would turn into what it did?

I knew the first time it was a werewolf. This just made me more sure.

1) Is Bella the only one affected by the Cullens leaving?
Bella is the only one really negatively affected by it. Everyone else, especially everyone on the reservation in La Push, seem to relish the fact that they've left.

2) Why is the dream different than before? Did Bella's renewed contact with Jacob's family change her perception of Sam Uley? How so and why?
I think Bella's dreams are a lot more intuitive than she is when she's awake. She's able to recognize things around her that she may not initially recognize while she's awake (look at her subconscious go! ) I think they've changed because for the first time in so long, she's putting herself in new situations and into a new environment. Which is good!

3) Why would Bella not want to be invisible now, when she wanted to be invisible last year?
I think she's realized that she was literally catatonic, and no one really knew what to do with her. No one could pull her from her state of unconscious, so they just ignored her.

4) How is Charlie affected by this new Bella? Does he perceive how much of it is Jacob's doing?
I think Charlie couldn't be happier. Not only is she coming out of her zombie-like state, but it's with someone that he approves of and knows is a good kid. I think he's hopeful that something will spark between her and Jacob, removing her more from her memory of Edward and the Cullens.

5) This is the second mention of the monstrous black bear. Did you realize at this point that there was more to it than that? What did you think was going on? Did you think it would turn into what it did?
I caught on more to the unusual-factor to the bear. Especially with Angela bringing it up, someone who you wouldn't think would buy into gossip or something frivilous like that. I trust Angela, too, so I typically really listen to what she has to say. I still had no idea it would become what it did, though, that was definitely still a surprise.
