There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?
I love it when Edward say "I hear voices in my mind and your worried you're the freak?" I think it really sums up the mood he can't quite understand why she taking all of this in her stride and the playful banter between them, kind of defined how they felt. I think they were comfortable at that point, enough to where the could tease on another anyway. Even though they hadn't gotten to doozie yet.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
No I don't think she regretted it, I think she was glad that she had done it, he had answered an important question she needed the answer to, I just think that she felt a little embarrassed about it.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
What he is, and I think it doesn't matter because it doesn't change who he is, or how she feels about him. I think she had come to terms with the fact that she'd falling for him hard and that she wants to go down that road.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears given that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
I think it's disappointment at his reaction I think she feels a twinge of rejection at his words. In a way I think she feels like he doesn't want her as much as she wants him and the fact that he's so determined not to let her fall in love with him when she reveals it's to later he snaps at her, I think the leading emotion is rejection.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
I think that it was the first time she saw him in the cafeteria, I think that's why it hurt and confused her so much when he acted so strangely. The magnetism between them compels me, there is such a strong bond between them from the moment that she sees him. We know a little about what draws Edward to her but I think there is an underlying reason for the strong bond.

"He sighed, and I watched with relief as the needle gradually drifted toward eighty. "Happy?"
"Almost."
"I hate driving slow," he muttered.
"This is slow?"" ~~Edward/Bella/Edward/Bella Pg. 182

I love that even though it irritates him he, and he knows he won't crash, he still slows down to put Bella at ease.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

Partially... I think that she kind of feels like a two-timer because she's so devoted to Edward. But at the same time I think she's happy because it lead her to her 'theories' which turned out to be true!

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

Because she's in love... nothing matters when you're truly in love.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

Because she still has so many unanswered questions and it's (temporarally) tearing her apart... she doesn't know whether to be scared or not.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

When she finally came to terms within herself that as much as she should be terrified of him, she doesn't fear him at all. Also, she's tried to imagine life without him there and it just hurt to much to even think about it.

I love all of them! most of the ones other people mentioned are some of my favorites though.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
I think she feels bad for leading him on, however, i think she is also glad she did it because it helped her figure out edwards secret, which he so willingly shared with her.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
Because when you love somenone, there isnt much else that DOES matter.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
I think she is just frustrated at this point. She wants all of her questions answered, and there is also a little something inside of her that wants to hear the answers SHE wants to hear.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
I think she fell in love with him when she first saw him in the cafeteria. A love at first sight kind of thing. But i don't think she realized how intensly or passionately in love she was until the point where they were both honest with each other and she found out the truth.

There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

They were all equally funny in different ways. It's too hard to pick one.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

I think she did.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

What Edward is. She only cares how he feels about her.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

she's upset.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

at some point during their conversation is probably when it clicked with her.

There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

"Don't laugh--but how can you come out during the daytime?"
He laughed anyway. "Myth."
"Burned by the sun?"
"Myth."
"Sleeping in coffins?"
"Myth."

I found it hilarious partially because he seemed to be prepared for them as if he's been interrogated like that before.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

I don't think she does because she probably wouldn't have figured it out on her own and there wasn't another way that Jacob would have told her. And I don't think Edward would have outright told her either because then he would be breaking "secrecy rules" and such.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

I think Bella is realizing that she is starting to fall in love with him and in that sense she won't care if she's in danger because her happiness overrides it. Plus I think she likes to flirt with danger.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

I think that she is being a bit overwhelmed by the information and she's upset that she didn't get all her answers at the same time.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

At first I was a bit skeptical of what she was saying, sort of like how is she so sure already? But then again, it seems that she was obsessing over him from day one and was starting to fall in love with him at that point. She was starting to fall in love with the idea of Edward though and not Edward himself. Since she had already fallen for the idea of him, when the real Edward comes along to her she's been in love with him for a while without realizing it so it was quick for her to realize it in his prensence.
Here, there, and everywhere...that's where you'll find me.

There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

A: Yes there are many wonderful lines. SM is an amazing writer but if I HAVE to pick one it would be Bella's about being surprised her flirting worked. My brother once told me if I worked it right - smiled at a guy from across the room - I could reel in a lot of them. I've never been brave enough to try so my surprise would have been like Bella's.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

A: Very much. She's not a user. She cares about people and doesn't like manipulating them for her own purposes. She's a good person.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

A: Because once she makes a decision, it's done and she sticks with it. To further waffle over it only makes complications and this is something she wants so she's going to set aside what she can't change and focus on what she could have.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

A: Embarrassment. I'm the same way kind of. I don't instantly cry when I'm angry but anger and embarrassment can go hand in hand and I cry when I'm really embarrassed. It's like a loss of control and she's so independent that to loose that is more than a little frustrating.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

A: I don't think it can be singled down to just one point. But his obvious desire to protect her, that he cares for her would have an overwhelming affect on someone who was so strong yet so insecure. To be cared for that way inevitably makes a good person care in return.

Really, there are too any to choose from.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

I think she is a little, but I also think she's happy to know what he is than to be curious the whole time.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

Because she is already in love with him, whether she realizes it or not.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

I think she's realizing that he's right, that they really shouldn't be together, but she wants to be despite that.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

When she first laid eyes on him. The moment they sat next to each other in Biology and he was anxious to escape. Those days that he wasn't in school after that first day. She loved him from the start.

<b>1. There are so many humorous ones from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?</b>
"I hate driving slow"
"This is slow?"

That part just cracked me up. I can totally see his deadpan, upset looking face and her incredulous expression, as if she can't believe that he just said that. As if considering 80 mph slow is crazier than all the things she is about to bring up.

<b>2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?</b>
I think so. I think she is beginning to realize that the flirting working as well as it did may come back to bit her later on

<b>3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?</b>
It doesn't matter because she loves him and love makes everyone blind. It doesn't matter because she doesn't see the vampire side of him quite yet, right now she just sees a boy who makes her happy and who may have an odd quirk or two that just happens to be explained by him being a mythical creature.

<b>4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears given that we know she only usually cries when she is angry?</b>
She's hurt. He is telling her not to admit that she loves him essentially, basically rejecting the small piece of herself that she was putting out there. To feel that rejection only a few moments after they were connecting so well, after she had just been thinking about that "first kiss" moment, it would have been so hard to take. Because she still doesn't see it as him not wanting her for her own protection, I think she still sees it as him not wanting her because she isn't good enough.
<b>5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?"</b>
I think she fell unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him the second time in Biology, when he was actually nice to her. I think if he had come back and been just as mean and callous then she would have been able to write him off as a curious oddity, something that intrigued her but that she could never really understand. But when he is nice, it really captures her interest and her thoughts.

Okay, I just realized how many answers I've already posted. I had 10 of them written before I joined :)
1 I DON'T KNOW!!!! THEY'RE ALL TOO GOOD!
2Uh, yeah, some. She thinks she put Jake in danger, but she got what she wanted and she convinced Edward not to blame him (I don't think he needed the convincing.)
3 HE'S EDWARD FREAKING CULLEN! Okay, I'll be more serious. She's already in love with him and (I will now quote one of my most favoritest quotes from New Moon) "Once you cared about a person, it was impossible to be logical about them anymore."
4 I think she felt sort of rejected, he was trying to get her to leave him alone. And then she was just frustrated that he wasn't exactly taking her seriously.
5 It wasn't really love at first sight and yet it was...., like she was sort of, not attracted, really, but like, to put it in Renee's words, like a satellite. From the first time she saw him, everything revolved around him. But, she fell in love with him pretty quickly after he decided to talk to her.
"I swore and threw some rocks into the water. Eventually wasn't soon enough."
