There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?
Haha there were lots. I like all of them.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
Pfft yeah. Especially after telling Edward.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
because it doesn't matter what Edward is. Bella loves him. ^^

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
Confusion and anger and frustration and madness???

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
I think when he saved her or when they were talking to eachother.

I don't have my book and I'm sure there are to many for me to choose a favorite.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
Yeah.. I think b/c it might have gave him the wrong impression.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
b/c she loves Edward either way.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears given that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
I think anger mostly at herself and hurt that Edward keeps trying to say goodbye to her.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
I'm not sure but I think on the way back from Port Angeles.

"How old are you?"
"Seventeen," he answered promptly.
"And how long have you been seventeen?"
His lips twitched as he stared at the road. "A while,"

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
Yes...and no. She's glad to know finally "what" Edward is, but she's not sure yet how to think of the fact that the one she loves is a vampire.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
Because she loves Edward anyway, whatever he does, whatever he says and whatever he is

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
Ummm... no idea.Exactly the same thing happens always to me when I'm angry, and I really don't know why!!

The chapter ends wit the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
When she saw him first. It was love at first sight, but the first "symptom" was when Bella felt an electric shock when Edward touched her hand.

Twilight: Chapter 9 ~ My Thoughts

Post by DreamerTacy »

There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

"I hear voices in my mind and you're worried that you're the freak." ~Edward Cullen

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

I think she is worried that she got him in trouble. But no, I think she is glad she got the info, even if she had to flirt to get it.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

Because she is already in love with him. When you have already crossed that line, you love someone unconditionally, no matter who, or what, they are.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

I think she was worried #1 of losing him, and #2 that she was so involved and was feeling such intense emotions already, but that he didnt share them. The words he uses makes it seem like he is trying to put distance between them, and she doesn't quite understand why yet.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

I think she started feeling something for him after the accident, but his behavior and her stubborness kept it from growing at that point. I really feel the day he first invited her to sit with him at lunch was when her feelings grew beyond just curious-infatuated-intense-crush. I don't think there was a defining moment, but a very natural gradual intensifying of emotions that topped off when she was honest with herself the last moment of the chapter.

There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

"I hear voices in my mind and you're worried that you're the freak." -Edward Cullen
This is definitely one of my favorites. I laughed out loud when I read this one. There really are too many to name.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

A little, because it seems she was interested in him as more than a friend. I'm sure that if she was given the choice, she'd do it again though, the info was too important.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

It doesn't matter to Bella because she already loves him, even if she doesn't know it yet. She's intrigued by him, and grateful for him saving her life more than once. She'll take him any way she can get him. :D

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears given that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

I think she is angry at Edward for sending mixed messages. She can't understand why someone like him is interested in her and it's making his attention to her more difficult. She also feels that he is torn over something and doesn't know how to help him.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

I think it was love at first sight, even if they were unaware. She was so focused on him from the minute she met him. She had to get to know him. Saving her life may have helped a little. He had also asked her to sit with him at lunch, which was strange considering he never sat with anyone but his family.

There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

So so hard, almost impossible to choose a favorite, but I'll do my best.
"'Don't you see, Bella? It's one thing for me to make myself miserable, but a wholly othering thing for you to be so involved.' He turned his anguished eyes to the road, his words flowing almost too fast for me to understand. 'I don't want to hear that you feel that way'"

He's way to hard on himself.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

I don't think she's regreting it cause she didn't realize that Jacob would bother trying to go further with her. She thought "Ok, big deal, he'll like me, I might see him again once or twice around town but whatever, it's nothing" Boy was she wrong.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

Bella doesn't care that he's a vampire. She thinks he's just a 17 year old boy who is completely perfect, though a little weird. She means she wants to try to work things through with him.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

Just that she tries too hard to keep her feelings locked up. She tries to make everyone happy, but it's too much. Sometimes, she just needs to let go.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

Well, she likes him from the moment she sees him. Bella just doesn't understand why he'd hate her so much. She completely falls in love with him when he tells her the truth. Maybe even back in La Bella Italia when he turned his eyes on her.

I'm getting chills just thinking about his eyes!

"I hear voices in my mind and you're worried you're the freak!" is a great one. :) I couldn't pick my favorite though, too many!
Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
I think a part of her feels a little guilty, but on the other hand, she knows if she didn't do it, she wouldn't know everything she does about the Cullens.
Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
I think it doesn't matter to Bella that Edward isn't human because she loves him, and wants to be with him anyways. Bella isn't one of the those people who "falls in love" with guys all the time and then breaks up with them a few weeks later. Her feelings for Edward are very strong, and she doesn't care if he's not a human.
Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
I think she's angry because the guy she is in love with is saying that they can't be together because he's not human. That would be hard, knowing that the person you like probably likes you too, but you can't be together.
The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
I think she's loved him (in a way) for a while now, but it was that night with him that she openly realized that she was in love with Edward.

1.There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

I really like when Edward says he has been seventeen for "awhile." But actually I think some of my favorite lines for this chapter are when Bella is saying things about vampires, and all Edward says is "myth." It's kind of random to love, but I DO!

2.Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

No, not really. Had she not done it, she would have been far less informed about the Cullens.

3.Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

Bella feels right with Edward. It just feels like that is how it is meant to be. So the fact that there is the 'small' hindrance of being a vampire, it doesn't matter to her because she knows she is supposed to be with Edward.

4.Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears given that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

Fear. Of not being with Edward.

5.The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

I don't really have an answer for this question. It's really hard to say for me.

-E: That's not what I was referring to. 'It doesn't matter!'
B:I'm right?
E: Does it matter?
lol he just flips out so completely, I love it. I can just see his face in my head.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
-Maybe she feels bad about it but I don't think she regrets it.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
-there's no way she could leave him alone anyway.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
-Well, usually is a relative term. She says she was crying because she was hurt. It was just a natural response to his reaction.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
-My hero syndrome, definately the car crash.
