There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

Wow. There are too many, I'll have to re-read it for the umpteenth time. :D

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

Uh huh...except how would this conversation be taking place without it?

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

Bella's in too deep. There's no turing back once she's this far in.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry?

She doesn't fully understand, I don't think.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

I'm not sure.

it has to be 'I hear voices in my mind, and you're worried that you're the freak.'
Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

yes cause she thinks she used Jacob and she did

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

she loves Edward and it doesn't matter to her what he really is she just loves him

I don't know exactly I think she can't understand "the danger" Edward says and she feels like she's being rejected for the guy she likes or loves

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward

when she learned the truth about Edward and she didn't walk away she couldn't cause she knew deep inside she had feelings for him

It's SO hard to choose! I'd have to go with:
"He grinned and tapped his head.
"Built in radar detector" (pg 182)

It was nice to see Edward take a light approach to his ability, it was nice just to see him lighten up in general.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
I think it's made her feel a bit cheap, stupid, and it wasn't something she wanted to let Edward of all people know. For a bit, she seemed afraid that he'd be repulsed or offended by what she'd done, so there I could see her regretting it had things gone south because of it, she wasn't expecting his calm reaction.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
Despite Edward being a bona fide monster, Bella is determined that there is more to him than meets the eye, that he isn't a core of evil, because of how he's treated her and how he's been open and honest with her. While she knows he's dangerous, Bella basically cares too much to write him off, she feels there is a lot more to the overall situation.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
Fear and humiliation mixed together. She fears that she'll lose all contact with Edward and through their minimal time together she's already developed a close bond, and something about losing that causes her to panic. Along with that, she seems to feel as if she's misinformed, which makes her feel a bit stupid. Fear of losing him is what ultimately drives her to tears, for whatever reason, she is utterly worried about him ignoring her again, she remembers how painful it was the first time around.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
The second he started opening up to her. She was already aware of his physical beauty, so finally getting to face to face, sit down talk to him just confirmed what she'd been battling all along. Aw.

My favorite '" and I'm surprised no one's mentioned it '" is just before she gets out of the car and asks if she'll see him again. I love when he says "Yes '" I have a paper due, too....I'll save you a seat at lunch." It's awesome!

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

I think that she kind of is feeling guilty for tricking Jake like she did. It might be related to the fact that she goes on a guilt trip over everything '" like in Eclipse '" and it also might be related to how young and "inexperienced" he is compared to Bella. Even though they're clearly equal in experience with the opposite sex.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

Because, first of all, she's stubborn as heck, and because she's fallen for him by this point. And what's a little thing like vampirism to stop a stubborn girl in love?

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

It might be a combination of anger (at herself and at Edward) and of pity for herself. She's into a vampire who is fighting to keep her from making a mistake, although you can't call anything involving Edward a "mistake" in any situation at all.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

There probably was no specific point where she fell for him, but it was a gradual thing, just like in reality. It was just right then that she realized that she was in love with him, now that she knew most of the truth.

My favorite is "I hear voices in my mind and you're worried that you're the freak." Yay! Edward has a sense of humor! :P

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
Definitely. It is not in Bella's nature to trick people and use them and I think that using Jacob that way was hard for her and she's also worried about what's going to happen with him in the future since their families are closely connected.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
I think it doesn't matter to Bella that Edward isn't normal. She doesn't care that he's different from other people but other things matter to Bella. I think it matters to Bella that he has powers and different things that make him imposing and scary. She wants to know as much as she can, but the fact that he's different doesn't matter to her.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
I think that she is ashamed and angry. She doesn't want to make Edward angry and when she does get a strong response out of him she is ashamed, scared, and also angry.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
Ooh. That's hard. I think it was almost the first time she saw him, but it kind of grew throughout the book up until the point when she is in Port Angeles.

"HOLY CROW" "SLOW DOWN" PAGE 181
WHY? IT SHOWS THAT THERE IS MORE TO EDWARD THAN MIND READING. HE FEELS IT IS VERY SAFE TO BE GOING THAT FAST EVEN WIH BELLA IN THE CAR.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

SHE THINKS HE LEAD HIM ON A LITTLE TO MUCH. IT MIGHT HURT HER CONNECTION WITH EDWARD.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

THAT EDWARD ISN'T NORMAL AND SHE IS IN LOVE WITH HIM.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

SHE IS ANGRY THAT EDWARD MAY NOT FALL FOR HER. OR NOW THAT SHE KNOWS HE MIGHT LEAVE.

HE HAD TOLD HER AL HIS SECRETS, TRUSTING HER WITH THEM. IT MUST BE A SIGN THAT HE LIKES HER.

Humorous?
For me it was very important and, hm, it was a serious conversation.

But I really like, when Edward riding a car fast and Bella is scary. I like also her theory about wampires and - reaction of Edward. It was pretty good. I love all of their conversation - Edwars is very intelligent I can read, what he's saying non stop.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

No, I don't think so.
Maybe, only that's why she could think that Edward could be jealous, but... in this chapter, she didn't believe she loves her as much as she loves him.

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

It means that Bella doesn't care tht Edward is a vampire.
And it's so sweet.

Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

She cried because Edward said that she could not feel love to him? I don't know, but I know, he lies and Bella is important for him.

The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

Bella fell in love with Edward in this moment, when she convicted herself that she's sad when Edward's not in school. He missed him so much and she couldn't forget.
And it's true. When I read this part, I feel very dejected.
In this chapter first time Edward whisper to her ear and wishes her goodnight. She feels his breath and her heart beats so tight. Edward hears it everytime and... I these things are so romantic.

Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

No, it was worth it! I think she's just embarrassed to have to tell EDWARD that she flirted with Jacob! :D

Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

I think in a way it kind of does, but she's just trying to deny it. kind of trying to convince HERSELF that it doesn't matter. And, i also think that it doesn't matter to her, because he's worth it! :D
