Epilogue: An Occasion

Post by pelirroja »

The chapter summary can be found here

1. Did you figure out right away that they were on their way to prom or did you, like Bella, have something else in mind?

2. If you haven't read the extended prom remix at Stephenie's site, I encourage you to do so right now. If you have read it, do you think the shorter version is better? What parts of the extended version do you think should have been left in the book and why?

3. How did you feel about Jacob at the prom? And please, try to ignore any feelings you may have developed about him from New Moon. Remember at the end of Twilight, Jacob doesn't believe in the superstitions of his people and is only there to get parts for his car

4. The last line of Twilight has confused many readers as they assume Edward bites her right then and there. Were you one of those people? Be honest! And how did you feel about that ending? If you read the book when it first came out, were you desperate for more? If you read the book recently, did you know there was a sequel and were already planning to read it?

I really wasn't paying attention to where they were going to be honest. I get to caught up in other things.

2. If you haven't read the extended prom remix at Stephenie's site, I encourage you to do so right now. If you have read it, do you think the shorter version is better? What parts of the extended version do you think should have been left in the book and why?

The Whole Getting Bella ready part should have stayed in , that was really good to read . Going to Bella's house and Edward making her dinner was great to as it shows how much that boy can do!

3. How did you feel about Jacob at the prom? And please, try to ignore any feelings you may have developed about him from New Moon. Remember at the end of Twilight, Jacob doesn't believe in the superstitions of his people and is only there to get parts for his car.

I felt sorry for Jacob. He was probably very jealous of them both and didn't want to look like an idiot.

1) I do this thing where I am so eager to find out what happens next that I don't speculate as to what might happen -- I'm in too big of a hurry to find out for certain. So I found out when Bella did. 8)

2) The shorter version! I think the remix was a total gratuitous fun-fest for Stephenie. Like Forever Dawn, sometimes gratuitous fun doesn't make for a good, concise, compelling book. Truthfully, reading about all of the happiness didn't make me happy. I like conflict better.

3) Jacob is a sweetheart! I LOVE HIM! :D At that point in time I believe he had a moderate crush on Bella that he supressed because she was obviously gaga for someone else. He is genuine and kind-hearted. The prom interaction with Jacob left me very fond of him.

No point in adding to it, because these were my exact thoughts.

I kind of thought thats what it was from the beginning ;)

2. If you haven't read the extended prom remix at Stephenie's site, I encourage you to do so right now. If you have read it, do you think the shorter version is better? What parts of the extended version do you think should have been left in the book and why?
it was a fun read..but I think the way it ended up was perfect for the story :D

3. How did you feel about Jacob at the prom? And please, try to ignore any feelings you may have developed about him from New Moon. Remember at the end of Twilight, Jacob doesn't believe in the superstitions of his people and is only there to get parts for his car
he was kind of "aww cute" there..but wanted him to be gone so we could get back to Edward/Bella being romantic ::sigh::

4. The last line of Twilight has confused many readers as they assume Edward bites her right then and there. Were you one of those people? Be honest! And how did you feel about that ending? no.. I didnt think he bite her.. I thought he was doing his sexy "lemme kiss the sweet spot" thing he was so good at heh.
I saw NM beside Twilight when I bought it so in the back of my head I thought the story went on..and was going to read it of course :D

1. Did you figure out right away that they were on their way to prom or did you, like Bella, have something else in mind?

I had no idea. I really wasn't harboring any ideas, either; I was in the dark.

2. If you haven't read the extended prom remix at Stephenie's site, I encourage you to do so right now. If you have read it, do you think the shorter version is better? What parts of the extended version do you think should have been left in the book and why?

I don't really like the part in the EPR where Edward cooks for her, just because he's sooo good at everything, and I was also itching for the prom part of it, but I like the remix a lot better. I think the book should of explained her dress in more detail, it just said it was "deep blue, frilly, and off the shoulders," while the EPR described it in such detail. Also, the parts with Alice doing her hair and makeup and such was fun to read; I would of enjoyed at least some of that in the book. If it had to be cut down that much, I thought at least a bit could be left in.

3. How did you feel about Jacob at the prom? And please, try to ignore any feelings you may have developed about him from New Moon. Remember at the end of Twilight, Jacob doesn't believe in the superstitions of his people and is only there to get parts for his car.

I felt so bad for Jacob! He had to go into her prom, give her a threat that he didn't believe in, and just... I felt really embarressed for him.

4. The last line of Twilight has confused many readers as they assume Edward bites her right then and there. Were you one of those people? Be honest! And how did you feel about that ending? If you read the book when it first came out, were you desperate for more? If you read the book recently, did you know there was a sequel and were already planning to read it?

New Moon had come out about a week before I read Twilight, so I knew there was a sequel and I got it from the bookstore the night I read Twilight. I didn't think that Edward bit her, because before I finished Twilight (I had to read it over the span of a few days; it was a friends, and I only had acsess for forty minutes at lunch) I went to Stephenie's website, and on the FAQ, it asked, "Did Edward bite her at the end?" and the answer was, of course, no, so I knew already that he didn't bite her when I read that part.
There is something seriously wrong with Bella and Edward's relationship. All they do is stare at each other and think about how pretty the other one is! At least when she was with Jake, they actually, you know, did stuff.

My answers are in cyan.
pelirroja wrote:1. Did you figure out right away that they were on their way to prom or did you, like Bella, have something else in mind?

No. I was as oblivious as Bella...

2. If you haven't read the extended prom remix at Stephenie's site, I encourage you to do so right now. If you have read it, do you think the shorter version is better? What parts of the extended version do you think should have been left in the book and why?
I liked the longer version better. I liked the dinner scene from the extended epilogue. It was nice to know that Edward can cook. I also thought that the scene at the house was a nice addition. I think that the epilogue would have been a tad bit better if the scene at the house was included, but it was great without it.

3. How did you feel about Jacob at the prom? And please, try to ignore any feelings you may have developed about him from New Moon. Remember at the end of Twilight, Jacob doesn't believe in the superstitions of his people and is only there to get parts for his car

I liked Jacob just fine at the prom. : ) He was there with innocent intentions, and Bella obviously didn't mind. I really liked Jake in Twilight, and that part didn't do anything to change my mind.
4. The last line of Twilight has confused many readers as they assume Edward bites her right then and there. Were you one of those people? Be honest! And how did you feel about that ending? I can honestly say that I was not one of the confused people. It wasn't until I heard that people were confused about it that I realized the possible meaning of the last sentence.

I got Twilight when New Moon was already out, and I knew it was out. I ordered New Moon on Amazon right away, but I made the mistake of getting 3-5 day shipping, and the wait nearly killed me. I've become a lot more patient because of the wait for Eclipse.

1. Did you figure out right away that they were on their way to prom or did you, like Bella, have something else in mind?

To be honest; I was thinking marriage. LOL. I'm slow. (: And then when Bella found out it was PROM, I literally slapped my own forehead. Too much wishful thinking. :>

2. If you haven't read the extended prom remix at Stephenie's site, I encourage you to do so right now. If you have read it, do you think the shorter version is better? What parts of the extended version do you think should have been left in the book and why?

I thought it was hilarious, but I think that the prom put in Twilight is good for the book. The prom remix is fun and such, but like previously stated, "Sometimes gratuitous fun doesn't make for a good, concise, compelling book." I DO love some of the scenes from the EPR, though. The cooking, and the overall dressing-up-Bella was wonderful. xD!

3. How did you feel about Jacob at the prom? And please, try to ignore any feelings you may have developed about him from New Moon. Remember at the end of Twilight, Jacob doesn't believe in the superstitions of his people and is only there to get parts for his car

A mixture of annoyed and pity. I'd hate to have to go to a prom, that wasn't my prom especially, and have to step-in on a person I like dancing with the person they're DATING to tell them that my father wants them to stay away from said person... I know that sentence is horridly run-on and probably makes no sense, but yeah. C: Poor Jake. I was annoyed that he cut in on them dancing, and though it wasn't his message, telling Bella to stay away from Edward.

4. The last line of Twilight has confused many readers as they assume Edward bites her right then and there. Were you one of those people? Be honest! And how did you feel about that ending? I didn't think he bit her. I read it recently, I didn't know about New Moon until I finished Twilight and read the back. I screamed and squealed at my dad demanding New Moon that SECOND (It was around 9 at night) and eventually got my friend Danny to buy it for me the next day as a Christmas Gift. C:

I knew they were going to the prom.

2. If you haven't read the extended prom remix at Stephenie's site, I encourage you to do so right now. If you have read it, do you think the shorter version is better? What parts of the extended version do you think should have been left in the book and why?

I like the shorter version because it flows better, but I wish Edward's reaction to Bella's dress was in the finished product. It's cute.

3. How did you feel about Jacob at the prom? And please, try to ignore any feelings you may have developed about him from New Moon. Remember at the end of Twilight, Jacob doesn't believe in the superstitions of his people and is only there to get parts for his car.

I thought Jacob was adorable, and only a teeny tiny bit annoying. His horror at being sent to his friend's prom made me laugh.

4. The last line of Twilight has confused many readers as they assume Edward bites her right then and there. Were you one of those people? Be honest! And how did you feel about that ending? I was so desperate for more that I sneaked downstairs (it was 11:30 pm) and logged online and searched for SteMe's site. I knew he wasn't going to bite her, because a) he had said two paragraphs before that he wasn't, and b) because he had kissed her neck a gillion times before that and why should this be any different?

1. Did you figure out right away that they were on their way to prom or did you, like Bella, have something else in mind?

I think I was having some pretty wishful thoughts, although I didn't think they would dress her up if she was going to be in a lot of pain soon afterwards. I did guess where they were going when Edward was talking to Charlie and then Tyler; I mean, what would Edward's excuse be to Charlie if he really were going to bite Bella?

2. If you haven't read the extended prom remix at Stephenie's site, I encourage you to do so right now. If you have read it, do you think the shorter version is better? What parts of the extended version do you think should have been left in the book and why?

I prefer the EPR because it shows a lot more of the characters and I like as much of Stephenie's writing as I can get, so of course I like the longer version! I think they could have left the part about Alice dressing Bella up in the book to show a bit more of her personality. I guess the shorter version was better for the book though, for people who aren't as obsessive as me.

3. How did you feel about Jacob at the prom? And please, try to ignore any feelings you may have developed about him from New Moon. Remember at the end of Twilight, Jacob doesn't believe in the superstitions of his people and is only there to get parts for his car.

I felt really bad for him and mad at Billy for blackmailing him. This scene made me like him more, but, like Bella, just as a friend.

4. The last line of Twilight has confused many readers as they assume Edward bites her right then and there. Were you one of those people? Be honest! And how did you feel about that ending? I confess I was one of the people who thought he bit her  , and I was like, awww, that's such a sweet ending. I only thought this for a day though, because, fortunately for me, my friend told me that Edward didn't actually bite Bella and then I later read the FAQ page on Stephenie's website. I guess I did think it a bit odd that he was biting her in the open; but once again, I was having pretty wishful thoughts... The day after I finished Twilight for the first time, I read everything on Stephenie's site and still wanted more. My friend had told me that there was a sequel before I even read Twilight, but I didn't even know the name of it until after finishing Twilight.
