1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?

A: Of course. That or he'd lied.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

A: It was de ja vu. I'd met people like that who appeared to dislike from the get go for no reason. Sadder still I've been that person a time or two.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

A: A sweet, lovable, adorable little kid. Yes and Yes. He reminded me of a little brother.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

A: He'd probably lived around them so long and had seen nothing to give proof to it like Bella had that it was easier to dismiss them, given the day and age.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?

A: Very confident. 99.9% of things that are put into a story have a purpose other than filler. Especially something as foreshadowing as this.

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?

To anyone who already knew that Edward was a vampire, it was obvious. It's not a good place for camping for humans. For vampires, it's perfectly fine.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

I disliked her. Simple as that. I didn't see why she didn't like Bella, but I just figured it had to do with Eric or Mike giving her attention.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

I liked him. I loved him. I felt bad because she was playing him. He seemed very cute, though, minus the ponytail

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

Because many kids don't believe legends and he is just another kid listening to his father's tales. Bella had seen Edward act in abnormal ways that could lead to him being a vampire.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?
That hadn't even fazed me. I overlooked that and I didn't remember that at all until reading it a second time.
Yay for New Moon!

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?
It didn't really come as much of a surprise for me, I kind of assumed that they weren't really camping. The way he mentioned hunting made me kind of stick on that idea but I honestly didn't think about it too much.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?
Honestly, I didn't feel much of anything. Girl drama is so common is high school and someone is always jealous/angry/annoyed by someone else. It's the magic of that age. And because it is so common most people (at least in my experience) don't go to too much trouble to hide it. So nothing really bothered me about how Lauren was acting other than feeling a little defensive for Bella.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?
My first impression of Jacob was that he was young and immature. A little bit star-struck by the pretty older girl paying attention to him. I didn't like him per say, but I didn't dislike him either. I found him to be almost a non-entity, much like Bella did. He was a means to an end, the way to find out more about Edward and little else.
Oh yeah, he was about as obvious as Jessica about Mike. There was little doubt that Bella had just found herself yet another admirer.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?
Perhaps he hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary to make him consider that such an out there thing might actually be possible. Bella has pointed out that nobody else is as aware of the Cullens -- particularly Edward -- as she is. Without this awareness of something being wrong about them she most likely wouldn't have believe the stories either.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?
Future books? I was honestly expecting it later in this book.

1 When he said there were bears I was like, "oh..hmmm" then by "during hunting season" I had the whole thing worked out in my head ...correctly :)
2 I thought Lauren should just turn green or something. You could tell she was jealous.
3 I love Jake he's fawesome, but I've read the whole series and I can't remember my initial reaction.
I think I was thinking he wouldn't show up again. That he was a minor character that would be mentioned once. But you could tell he LIKED Bella.
4 Well, it's the 21st century, he wasn't expected to think anything of them. All science proves them wrong.
5 It was such a great idea that I was almost hoping Jake would just turn into a werewolf right then and there, I thought they'd be, like really minor characters (cause, dude, they're the Cullen's enemies...)

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?

haha Oh my gosh, how could you not think anything else? Instantly I knew something was up.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

Dislike for Lauren right back at her.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

AH!!! I remember the first time I read the chapter I was honestly so uncomfortable. It's not normal or easy for Bella to get along with a boy so well. I got so frustrated because obviously Jacob was interested and Bella was stringing him along. Poor kid. Reading it the second time I was dreading the chapter, but I realize he is a really nice kid, and a good friend to Bella, just way too interested in her romantically.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

Jacob didn't have the experience that Bella did. Bella was witnessing first hand. She wouldn't have believed it either if Edward was always right before her very eyes.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?

Since I've already read one of the future books I'm just not going to comment.

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?
When Charlie said "Too many bears" I thought, "Ahh, they be huntin' bears!" I expected it.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?
Typical high school girl, she was clearly used to attention and she didn't like that Bella was stealing her spotlight.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

I thought he was a cute kid, but that's it. I felt bad for him, because Bella was flirting to pump him for information and he was buying it.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?
Bella was exposed to more knowledge about Edward than Jacob was. She knew he stopped a van with his bare hands which made him something exceptionally strong and he didn't seem human. I think something clicked with Bella when Jacob told her that story. On Jacob's behalf, he grew up with his dad telling him silly old stories with no evidence to back them up.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?

Do I need to answer this one? Haha...

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?
I felt it was typical of teenage boys ... to do something/go somewhere that isn't safe.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?
It doesn't surprise me. There's always someone in high school who is not going to like you. I found it a typical high school scenario!

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?
I liked Jacob! I thought it was cute that this younger boy was crushing on an older girl. I def. got a sense that he was into Bella.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?
Bella had been questioning what was up w/the Cullens and she was starting to put things together. As far as Jacob goes ... if you hear the same story numerous times, you sort of just roll your eyes and say "that old tale". Plus, as a teenager, you're not really going to be into the legends. Jacob's never met the Cullens to even question any truth behind the legend. To him, it's as much a fairy tale as Cinderella is.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?
I hadn't even thought about werewolves. Sure, I recall that there was the story that the tribe was descended from wolves ... but there was the "Noah's Ark" legend as well. Interesting.

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?
I knew that Edward was a vampire, so I figured it had some good hunting material there for him.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?
I thought it was very snobbish of Lauren to treat Bella like that. Bella had never done anything to her to offend her personally. It brought back some bad personal memories...

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?
I thought Jacob Black was nice. I definitely think that he could end up as a valuable friend.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?
Because he hasn't witnessed anything that would make him believe otherwise. Plus, when your parents tend to believe in certain traditions it could be the teenage rebelliousness to reject them.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?
I think it is a possibility.

1. I never thought that he went there to camp. I figured it was vampire-related.

2. I thought Lauren was extremely rude. Her behavior was uncalled for.

3. I thought he was nice. Too bad he had to turn into a jerk later on...

4. Jake didnt have any reason to believe them.

5. At first, I didnt think that werewolves would come into the picture at all. I was too focused on the vampires and Edward.

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?
Of course. If it's out of season for bears and a dangerous site. Normal people would generally stay clear of that area.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

Jerk. Personally Lauren just felt very high school even though her reactions are somewhat justified. She could've at least dealt herself with some grace.
3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?
Jacob felt like another Mike, only not so annoying. He had a nice sense of humor and his naivety made me feel bad that Bella was playing him. He felt like a pretty sweet kid.
4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?
Bella had more reason to believe them. Jacob also seems more down-to-earth than silly, lovesick Bella.
5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?
Possible but slightly excessive on the whole mythological creatures - it would fit though.
