Chapter 6 - Scary Stories

For the sake of this and future chapters - PLEASE - if you have read New Moon and/or any spoilers for New Moon, answer your questions very carefully and in a way that does not give out any information not found in Twilight. Thanks!

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?

I really liked this chapter!

1. When Charlie told Bella that people usually didn't go to Goat Rock to hike I was thought that his family was going to like attack any stray hikers or lost stragglers or something, because there wouldn't be anyone else around. Because nothing on the back or inside cover of the book suggests that they hunted animals instead.

2. I hated Lauren in this chapter. She's just jealous because Bella was being fawned over by the entire school.

3. I don't like Jacob. I think he needs to give it up and go home. His character annoyed me straight from the beginning. He just seemed so clingy and cheerful. Like it's pretty obvious, that given the choice Bella's going to choose the disarmingly handsome Edward over him.

4. I don't think Jacob believed the legends like Bella did because he was too embarrassed to even consider them. He probably didn't want Bella -his crush- to think that his family was crazy and so was he.

5. Oh I definitely think werewolves will come in later. Stephenie did such a good job creating this vampire world and making it seem realistic, that I'm sure she could do the same for werewolves. And as we all know werevolves are the natural enemy to vampires.

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?

Well, when Charlie said it was a bad place for camping something clicked in my head and i started thinking why would Edward go there... i had some theories about it that then became facts

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

When i first read Twilight Lauren was one of the characters i disliked the most, she reminded me of those girls in school who only go after looks and doesn't like competition (in this case Bella is competition for her)

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

I liked Jacob from the first moment, even though those legends he told Bella, and yes, i do believe he's interested in Bella more than as friend, but has great competition with Edward

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

Yeah, i didn't understand that, because when he talks about the legends i supposed his people were related to wolves but it seemed a contradiction to me that he would be a werewolfe but at the same time he didn't believe in vampires

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?

I'm quite sure that werewolves and other strange species exist in Forks after the legends Jacob talks about, i may be wrong, but i'm suspicious about Billy but i don't know what may happen in New Moon

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?

I did wonder. I can't really remember what I thought he was doing the first time I read it...

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

It made me dislike Lauren. I didn't think it was fair for her simply to not like Bella simply because she was there.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

I've always thought Jacob Black was cute in a awkward sort of way. Yes, I liked him. I think that he was beginning to realize that he was interested in her that way.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

I don't think he's ever had any solid proof about what his father talks about. Plus, who listens to their parents? Heh, joking.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?

I think that would be really cool. I'm excited!!

1.) I figured that, well since the back gave away the fact that Edward was a vampire, that bears was on the menu for that hunting trip( thought i had no clue they would turn out to be Emmets favorite dish). I didnt even consider Edward to be doing much else but dining.

2.) I have to say i abhored Lauren from the beginning. She's just to snobby for my liking and i really can't stand "valley girls" who always seem to get their way-granted she is a well-rounded character, only because there are many girls out there with her attitude, but that doesn't mean i have to like her. You really can tell she has a strong distaste for Bella. If only Lauren could be more mature like her...hm NOPE. i guess we'll have to wait and see if Lauren strikes!

3.) Jacob Black is a very likable person and i was fond of him from the beginning. He's sweet and mature for his age, and I do believe he has strong feelings for Bella. Anyone can tell he flirts with her from the first time they meet.

4.) Jacob seems to be embarrassed and not as or original as his father and the other elders. Billy Black lives more in the past, as most native elders do, and believes in the history of his people. Jacob was born into a world of technology and fables where every mythical character is changed into a joke or a scary story that no one truly believes. Jacob is still considered a child and seems to not want to believe in his father's stories.

5.) Now that you mention it-i didnt suspect anything before- I believe that Stephenie has some new enemies and heros instore for the story. I don't blame her if she ends up using werewolves or other characters. It would add an awesome twist and some juicy scenes. I'm also pondering the fact of the natives...hmm maybe Bella's nightmare had some truth to it...a little more than symbolism??hmmm *ponders*.

This chapter is pretty good, but I love what it leads to even more. :)

1. I can't remember exactly what I was thinking the first time that I read it, but since we knew from reading the back of the book that he was a vampire, I guessed that they were hunting bears.

2. Lauren bugged me from the begining. There are way too many girls like her in my school, and they bug the hell out of me.

3. I like Jacob, and I felt kind of sorry for him, having a crush on someone that he doesn't have a chance with.

4. He may have been raised on tribal grounds, but he's had to much contact with the outside world to buy into the legends as much as the elders.

5. I don't want werewolves! Meyer's able to make vampires believable, let's not push it and throw in another mythical creature.
I'm betting on Alice.

I figured he was hunting.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

"Typical conniving jerk."

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

I could tell right away that he was quite taken with Bella, but he seemed way too boy-next-door to pose any real threat. He seems nice enough, but he's not one of my favorite characters.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

Because they seem like silly old legends. If you didn't know the Cullens, they would be.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?

To answer question #5...I can't wait to hear how Stephenie describes what werewolves are like more in detail!!! Her versions of vampires so far are so intriguing and different, I hope she includes werewolves in the upcoming books!

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?

During the first read through, I don't think I really looked that much into it. I was basically just like, "Oh really? That's nice..." I'm not very good at reading between the lines...lol.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

Typical display of teenage jealousy. After all, Bella did sort of move in on her territory, so to speak. Not that I'm taking Lauren's side or anything. It's just...well, kind of expected for someone of such petty standards like Lauren.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

Bella's taken by a really hot vampire. Well, I guess he was nice at first glance (he still is, actually, lol), but his little play-up to Bella's flirting was kind of annoying. I just don't like how he (wants to) comes between the Bella/Edward-ness.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

I think he actually does, but didn't admit it because he didn't want to look weird in front of Bella. Then again, he might not.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books?

I guess it would be kind of cool--as long as the vampires win the extreme-mega-battle that would ensue.

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn't a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there? i figured he had lied to her about it, to protect the secret of course, and went up their to feed. didn't really consider who or what he would be feeding on, but you know..

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella? i disliked Lauren from the beginning. she's a classic prep and mean girl. not the type of girl i have ever gotten along with.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend? i thought he was sweet and just a normal kid trying to impress a girl, though his act did get irritatating when i thought of Edward. i didn't like him but i didn't dislike him. i just felt like.. he was there to make me a little bit irritable and to talk to Bella about the secret. of course i thought he liked Bella as more than a friend. i mean, she did flirt with him.. but that was for a certian benefit.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn't believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did? i think he didn't want to believe it. who wants to believe that you're basically vampire hunters or whatever? i mean, if you don't like vampires, why would you want to believe in something so dark and gory?

5. Given the fact that the stories about the "cold ones" are true, how do you feel about the idea that we could see some werewolves in future books? i know there will be werewolves in the next book for about a dozen reasons. i mean, there has to be.
It's a lie - a kiss with open eyes.
