1. We get our first glimpse of "real" vampires in this chapter. What was your impression of them as a group and as individuals? Did you connect the fact that their red eyes had to do with the type of blood they drank?

They scared me because they were so much more...scarier, non-vegetarians, ack!

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?

I diffenately felt something changing.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?

I believe the other option was changing Bella. And Edward did NOT want that!

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you have suggestions over what they should have done differently at this point?

I think Bella's plan was the best--it worked out at least and now Alice knows a bit more about her history.

I figured it had to do with the type of blood. my first impression of them was that they had no wish to control themselves or give up human blood. As individuals, Laurent seemed like the leader and more controlled, James seemed surprised by the presence of Bella. Victoria just sided with James, after all they did act like mates.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until now, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?

I concur. It was completely different: before, it was all happy and lovey, then it became dangerous and suspenseful.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?

I think he was so concerned about Bella's safety that he got overwhelmed and he just didnt want her to be in danger. I think that maybe the other way was to turn Bella, but Edward wouldn't because he didnt want to do that to her.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you have suggestions over what they should have done differently at this point?

Bella's plan was not thought through carefully. yes, it ended up okay after all, but she needed to use her head. Edward's plan may have worked, but James had figured out how to lure Bella into a trap, spoiling the plan. i dont have any suggestions as to what they could or should have done.
"Tell me what you want, and you can have it."
"You," I mumbled almost incoherently.
"I'm yours."

I found Victoria to be one of the most interesting of the group because there wasnt much said about her. James I automatically took a dislike to for obvious reasons. I dont think I actually connected the fact that their eyes were red for a reason until I was told it was. Hm..

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?

I agree with you. Up until now, it's been all sunshine and butterflies for Edward and Bella(Discounting the first few chapters of "hatred", of course). I never actually thought Edward would hurt her anyway. Now, with the emergence of James, I realized that Bella indeed could get into a lot of trouble.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?

I always thought the other option was turning Bella, based on how furious Edward sounded at that moment. I think I remember being a little freaked out at the entire situation there, even though I knew Bella would be alright eventually.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you ahve suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point?

I wish she had told Alice about the phone call. I think things could have worked out better had she done that. She was very lucky to have survived.
Oh, lord, what can I say? I've been sad since you went away.

it's odd because as you read this chapter, Bella's proposition seems best. Now that I think about it though, I really wish they would have stuck with edward's plan because, seriously, I don't think James gave a crap about Charlie whatsoever!!!! They could have just driven off together and she could have called Charlie and been like, I've gotta work on a project last minute with Edward that I totally forgot about. And then later be like, Alice wants me to sleep over, it's too late to go home blah blah blah. Unfortunately Bella is paranoid and it had to be her way...

1. We get our first glimpse of "real" vampires in this chapter. What was your impression of them as a group and as individuals? Did you connect the fact that their red eyes had to do with the type of blood they drank? I agree completely with red eyes confirming the use of human blood. I also believe that unlike Carlisle who is traditionally out in front standing as leader for the Cullens' family, Laurent is only a "decoy". We find that Jame's is the actual leader, proving that they are a very shady and unorthodox group who can not and should not be trusted.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different? The book absolutely took a different route when the hunt began. The urgency to defend Bella become not only Edward's intention but the entire Cullen family, including Rosalie. We see at this point that Bella is truly part of their family and worth protecting, opening doors for deeper relationships.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is? We find out later on that Alice see's into Bella's future. I don't know if I'm able to mention that or if it's still a "spoiler" for those who haven't read Eclipse. I'm sure it's been out long enough but I still won't mention it on here. I do know, however, that Alice already considers Bella her "sister".

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you ahve suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point? Bella did the right thing with the information she was given. She had no idea at that point that James was bluffing. She should have trusted Alice more, however, and asked to see if James was telling the truth. That wouldn't have resulted in such a climactic ending though.

To me they seemed more like "real" vampires. I guess I did connect their eye color with their diet.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?

I got the same impression. Up until now Edward was trying to protect Bella from himself (along with them discovering their love). At this point Edward becomes the true protector, because he is not in control of wether Bella is hunted or not.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?

No clue.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you ahve suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point?

I did worry about Edwards plan because I thought about Charlie. I thought Bella's plan was good for spur of the moment, but it was not thought completely thru due to the lack of time.

I thought they were a bit rogue and I definitely noticed the eyes and the fact they weren't vegetarians.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?
It became a faster pace and I became anxious, so yes.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?
I just knew Alice was thinking Bella could be turned and then the hunt would end. When Edward said no, it really made me realise he doesn't want her to be a vampire.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you have suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point?
Actually, I think Bella had the better thought out plan. They just didn't count on how good James was at what he did.

As a group they are strong. As individuals, they are weak. I figured that they were not vegetarians.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?

I feel that the climax is coming up. I love the fact that the plot has twists and turns in it

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?

The other option is being turned. That way the hunt is over but Edward is dead set on not having her turned. Alice already has seen Bella's future so it wouldn't have made a difference anyway.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you ahve suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point?

I really don't know what to think.

My first impression was "ohhh something bad is going to happen." i think by that time i figured out the eye thing but i am not sure.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?
Same

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?
Probably turning her into a vampire, and well Edward would never let that happen.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you ahve suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point?
Well Bella has a point, if she just left with out telling Charlie something could have happened. But yet again Edwards plan might have worked out better....

I thought they were more scary then the Cullens.. and I did think the red eyes did have something to do with them drinking human blood.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?
Same.

That they should change her?

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you have suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point?
I don't really know.
