1) What did you think of Billy's conversation with Bella and her response?

I was growing slightly annoyed with Billy. He seemed to be prying more than was needed. I did consider that he was saying those things because he was concerned, but that didn't stop me from being just a tad annoyed. I was kind of surprised that Bella hinted at knowing more than Billy originally thought she did.

2) Did you approve of the way Charlie treated Edward as the first boyfriend Bella ever brought home?

He tried to do the stern parent thing, I approved. It was what he felt obligated to do, I suppose.

3) Edward talks about his inner turmoil regarding constantly putting Bella into danger. Do you think he is to hard on himself?

More than necessary, yes.

4) Edward finally says "I love you". Were you disappointed in how it came out almost off-handedly?

No, I wasn't disappointed. It made his previous statement make sense. He went on about how he should stay away, and then when he said "I love you"... I guess it was kind of a... juxtaposition of what emotions are whirling inside him. (I think I used that word right) The emotions are stark contrasts of each other and to see them so intertwined over one choice (being with Bella) just made each seem more powerful.

5) We learn more about Esme, was your impression of her changed after learning more about her?

Yes, I learned how difficult her human life had been, and it amazed me how warm and kind she seemed after still experiencing all of that. I guess after she told her story that I saw her as a stronger character than I did initially.

Wow great timing Pel. I was just finishing this chapter when i logged on. (I'm trying to re-read it before New Moon get here)

1) What did you think of Billy's convesation with Bella and her response?
I thought the conversation was somewhat unnecessary between the two of them, but neccesary for us as readers to understand Billy's PoV. I was surprised that Bella used a tone with him but I was glad she got it across that it was her business and not his in any way.

2) Did you approve of the way Charlie treated Edward as the first boyfriend Bella ever brought home?
I did. I thought Charlie was very friendly toward Edward while he was there. But behind the scenes during dinner i was surprised at how hypocritical he was. He had said he loved the Cullens and now he's saying different? I was confused.

3) Edward talks about his inner turmoil regarding constantly putting Bella into danger. Do you think he is to hard on himself?
No. I think Edward needs to say this to get across to not only Bella, but himself as well, about how careful he actually has to be.

4) Edward finally says "I love you". Were you disappointed in how it came out almost off-handedly.
I was a tad disappointed. I thought if maybe there was a long pause between "I love you" and "It's a sad excuse for what I'm doing", it would've been more of a "moment".

5) We learn more about Esme, was your impression of her changed after learning more about her?
Nothing changed. I still thought of her as the motherly figure that she is. I never really have much to say about Esme.

1) What did you think of Billy's convesation with Bella and her response?

Honestly, When I first read Billy's conversation with Bella, I thought he was being irrational and that his warnings were pointless. I didnt put two and two together, so to speak, when Jacob told Bella about the 'cold ones' (the Cullens) and the werewolves (the Quileute tribe) I just thought it was a fictional story ment to scare and impress Bella. I sortof pushed that to the back of my mind until Billy appoached Bella about Edward and the Cullens. Looking back after finishing the book, I saw that his thoughts about the Cullens were completely understandable. Billy is repeating what his tribe has known about vampires and how they may lure humans in easily. I would have reacted the same way as Bella if I were approached by some guy in a wheel chair, telling me to ditch my incredibly GORGEOUS vampire boyfriend.

2) Did you approve of the way Charlie treated Edward as the first boyfriend Bella ever brought home?

My father is a major in the bombsquad and he acted in the same fashion as Charlie did towards Edward. I got stares from my dad, stupid questioning, and he even asked for ID! Parents may be embarrasing but I love mine :D

3) Edward talks about his inner turmoil regarding constantly putting Bella into danger. Do you think he is to hard on himself?

Thats complicated... I feel as if he should just forget about hurting her, cut his losses, and love Bella uncontrollably. On the other hand, he is being very wise about trying to keep Bella alive. (If he killed her, there would be no twilight... and make me depressed because I cant fantasize about Edward. -cringes at the thought- XD) She is frail, we see that by how easily James turned her into a rag-doll, in comparison to Edward who seemingly can't be harmed. If he ended up hurting Bella, he would most likely go torment the Volturi and be even HARDER on himself. (which I don't think its possible.)

4) Edward finally says "I love you". Were you disappointed in how it came out almost off-handedly.
Yeah, but thats how guys are. They don't use big words or long, delicately composed sentences about how they love you and why. However, Edward might, so... no clue, but all I Can tell you is I haven't gotten any confessions of love that werent longer than 'I love you'

5) We learn more about Esme, was your impression of her changed after learning more about her?

I really had nooo idea who Esme really was to me, except the fact that I Really loved her name :33. So... there was no opinion to change.

1) What did you think of Billy's convesation with Bella and her response?
He annoyed me to death, it was obvious that his intentions were good, but he really tried to get involved where he wasn't needed. I liked Bella's response; very calm and polite, and almost enough to put him in his place, but he just doesn't quit.

2) Did you approve of the way Charlie treated Edward as the first boyfriend Bella ever brought home?
I didn't find anything wrong with it. He acted just as any father would act towards his daughter's first boyfriend, so I can't expect anything else. At least he was friendly.

3) Edward talks about his inner turmoil regarding constantly putting Bella into danger. Do you think he is to hard on himself?
Too close to call. There's a fine line between not taking for granted the fact that he can resist his temptation, and being a worrywart about it, but he just wants to do the right thing, and do everything he can to keep her safe.

4) Edward finally says "I love you". Were you disappointed in how it came out almost off-handedly.
A little bit. I was more annoyed that they kept dancing around the word when they were declaring themselves, so when it finally came out bluntly, I couldn't complain.

5) We learn more about Esme, was your impression of her changed after learning more about her?
Not at all. It only further proved that she was a genuinely loving woman.

1) What did you think of Billy's convesation with Bella and her response?

Gosh, talk about annoying! When I read Twilight the first time I though Billy was there to purposely get on my nerves. But when I reread it I realized he was sincerely concerned about Bella's safety. I thought Bella's responses were appropriate - she was much more cordial than I would've been.

2) Did you approve of the way Charlie treated Edward as the first boyfriend Bella ever brought home?

Yup! He wasn't overly protective, curious or intimidating. My dad would totally be all over any guy I brought home, attacking him with questions, unfriendly stares and threats. Charlie responded quite well!

3) Edward talks about his inner turmoil regarding constantly putting Bella into danger. Do you think he is to hard on himself?

Yes, absolutely! Poor dear, it's taking him a long time to realize Bella *wants* to be with him - she's only too happy ot be put into danger as long as Edward's there with her. But, alas, I don't think Edward will ever lighten up on himself - if anything goes wrong, he'll always blame himself. Always.

4) Edward finally says "I love you". Were you disappointed in how it came out almost off-handedly.

No, I thought it was cute! I was happy that now both Bella and Edward said it - now they were on the same page. If his "I love you" statement seemed offhanded, it's probably because he was also getting down on himself - scolding himself for putting Bella in danger, although he loved her.

5) We learn more about Esme, was your impression of her changed after learning more about her?

My impression of Esme didn't change much. I still loved her sweet, motherly, caring soul. It just made me sad to hear that she tried to kill herself after losing her baby. I don't know what made me sadder - that Esme lost a child or that she tried to commit suicide or that Esme is able to talk about such a tragedy with such ease.

[quote="pelirroja"]1) What did you think of Billy's convesation with Bella and her response?

I understand how Billy thinks that he is protecting Bella and doesn't want her to get hurt, but it really isn't his business on what Edward and Bella do and don't do together. Charlie should probably know that she is with Edward but that's it, he doesn't need to know everything. Teenagers should be allowed to keep secrets from their parents especially the fact that her "boyfriend" is a vampire.

2) Did you approve of the way Charlie treated Edward as the first boyfriend Bella ever brought home?

Yes, I thought Charlie treated Edward with kindness and welcomed him into his home. You have to give Charlie some slack because he has had to adjust to living with his seventeen year old daughter who he barely knows, and the fact that she acts strange doesn't help, then having her bring home a "boy" that she is completely in love with and has a huge secret. I don't think he treated Edward unfairly. He was just nervous.

3) Edward talks about his inner turmoil regarding constantly putting Bella into danger. Do you think he is to hard on himself?

Umm... Well, he wants to keep Bella safe and if that means walking away he would do it. Bella will throw her self into the fire just to be with Edward. Edward sees it as she's already throwing herself in by wanting to be with him and he doesn't want to hurt her yet he doesn't want to leave her. He is really hard on himself, but I think its a way to remind hisself not to get carried away.

4) Edward finally says "I love you". Were you disappointed in how it came out almost off-handedly.

As a reader I was a little disapointed. But, I don't think Bella was, she was estatic that he had finally said the words even thought he had been implying it all along. I don't see how it would change if he had said them at another time. He knew Bella was in love with him before she had really said it. Its like when they said, "I love you" the other one could say DUH! I know that.

5) We learn more about Esme, was your impression of her changed after learning more about her?

No, I still see her as a motherly woman. She is so happy that Edward has found someone even if its extreamly dangerous. She's just happy to see Edward happy.

1) What did you think of Billy's convesation with Bella and her response?

I thought that Bella's response was very . . . calm for just practically finding out Edward was a vampire, and I thought it was a whole new side of her that she "used" Jacob.

2) Did you approve of the way Charlie treated Edward as the first boyfriend Bella ever brought home?

I thought he was very . . . fatherly at treating Edward as the first boyfriend. I always thought that Charlie should have picked up on at least something, or a weird vibe between them, since he IS a police officer.

3) Edward talks about his inner turmoil regarding constantly putting Bella into danger. Do you think he is to hard on himself?

Yes, I do. But he also is like most boyfriends, afraid of hurting his love. And in this case he's got the most right to.

4) Edward finally says "I love you". Were you disappointed in how it came out almost off-handedly.

No, I wasn't. Bella is Edward's first love, and that was, I think, Edward's first time of saying it to a girl he actually loved, so it has to be a little awkward.

5) We learn more about Esme, was your impression of her changed after learning more about her?

Well, my first thought of her after Bella was in the hospital after the Tyler ordeal was something along the lines of "how do you stand all of these girls oogling your husband?!?!".

1) What did you think of Billy's convesation with Bella and her response?

Well, Billy IS just trying to help her...but, she knows what she's doing! I just kind of wanted Billy to give her a break and let her make her own mistake (even though Edward is definatley NOT a mistake!!)

2) Did you approve of the way Charlie treated Edward as the first boyfriend Bella ever brought home?

Yeah! Charlies the father, he has the right to act like that with Edward. I thought it was totally cool.

3) Edward talks about his inner turmoil regarding constantly putting Bella into danger. Do you think he is to hard on himself?

yes. Bella gets herself into trouble most of the time...either that or she's just usually in the wrong place at the wrong time! About 99% of the time it has absolutley NOTHING to do with Edward!

4) Edward finally says "I love you". Were you disappointed in how it came out almost off-handedly.

I was just glad that he actually said it! I mean, we allready knew that he loved her...so, I was just waiting for him to com out and say it.

5) We learn more about Esme, was your impression of her changed after learning more about her?

no, I still thought she was one of the best mothers to have! haha she's so much fun. I love esme
