1. We learn quite a bit about the physiology of vampires in this chapter as Edward tells Carlisle's story. Which is the most surprising thing you discovered - that they didn't need to breathe, that Carlisle tried to starve himself, or that they are very difficult to kill?

Probably that they didn't need to breathe. I just figured that they still needed to take in oxygen somehow; didn't realize that it was only for smelling that they actually breathed.

2. How did you feel about Edward's confession that he drank from humans for a short period of time? Were you surprised? Or were you more like Bella in thinking that it seemed reasonable? What do you think of his choice to kill only "bad" humans?

I was in agreement with Bella in that it seemed reasonable that he would have, in the past, drank human blood. I think it is cool that he choose to take off this earth those bad humans.

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. Given the interest most fans have in all things romantic where these vampires are concerned, how long do you think it will take Edward to actually get a bed...if he ever gets one at all? Snigger...you know I had to ask!

Well without giving anything away I will say that at first, it didn't seem that big of a deal to me. I wasn't sure Bella was going to spend anytime there sleeping especially in a house of vampires!

4. Throughout the chapter, Edward is much MUCH more himself. He is very open with Bella and seems very comfortable around her. I understand that this is the day after their time in the meadow, but what do you think specfially changed between them that allows Edward to be so free all of a sudden?

That she truly knows his secret. Also, just like with Mr. Darcy in Pride & Prejudice, once he got Bella on his home turf, it was much more relaxing for him because he was able to share his world with her.

I was definately surprised about vampires being hard to kill, but i think what shocked me the most was learning about the Volturi and that vampires had a "monarchy". Its not that i didn't think they were civilized... i just didn't realize they could do such a thing, or that there were even enough vampires to have such a system.

2. How did you feel about Edward's confession that he drank from humans for a short period of time? Were you surprised? Or were you more like Bella in thinking that it seemed reasonable? What do you think of his choice to kill only "bad" humans?
I guess i kind of expected that edward drank from humans for a little while at least, and I was really impressed by his attempt at being more civilized by killing only the bad humans. it says somewhere that the pull of blood can be so extreme, so i was surprised Edward felt ashamed about what he did. It's like chocolate for us, everyone has to get some sometime, right?

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. not very long at all *hint hint*

4. Throughout the chapter, Edward is much MUCH more himself. He is very open with Bella and seems very comfortable around her. I understand that this is the day after their time in the meadow, but what do you think specfially changed between them that allows Edward to be so free all of a sudden?
Like he says, he finally knows that he can resist Bella's smell. He convinced himself it would be better to be with her than to eat her (haha, blunt way of saying it), so now he's not afraid to get close because he knows he won't (or will do all in his power) not to lose her.

well i knew from other vampire mythology that they are hard to kill, but i didnt know they didnt need to breathe!

2. How did you feel about Edward's confession that he drank from humans for a short period of time? Were you surprised? Or were you more like Bella in thinking that it seemed reasonable? What do you think of his choice to kill only "bad" humans?

i agreed with Bella that it seemed reasonable, and also that he tried to rationalize it by only killing the bad ones. but im glad that he realized that he shouldnt have control over who lives and who dies

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. hopefully during Breaking Dawn! but one can only hope..

4. Throughout the chapter, Edward is much MUCH more himself. He is very open with Bella and seems very comfortable around her. I understand that this is the day after their time in the meadow, but what do you think specfially changed between them that allows Edward to be so free all of a sudden?

well, he had already told Bella all the important information about himself, so he felt that he could be himself around her and not have her get scared. he felt released from his past and was able to move forward with her!

I was shocked by all except the difficulty to kill. But if i had to rank it, it would be don't have to breath, Carlisle starving himself, then the dificult kill.

2. How did you feel about Edward's confession that he drank from humans for a short period of time? Were you surprised? Or were you more like Bella in thinking that it seemed reasonable? What do you think of his choice to kill only "bad" humans?

I was like oh oh Edward not good get back on the wagon. I wasn't surprised everone rebels, but I understood why. Because he dosen't wana be bad himself.

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. He he I'm gona say about a year *cough Eclips cough*

They're alone for the first time, and he's gotten used to her 'weird' reactions.

I was shocked. That is all.

I was like oh no Edward not good get back on the wagon. I wasn't surprised everone rebels, but I understood why. Because he dosen't wana be bad himself. And because everybody has a lapse in judgement sometimes.

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. I think it was that they didn't need to breathe. I was also amazed that Carlisle NEVER slipped (a human blood virgin).

2. How did you feel about Edward's confession that he drank from humans for a short period of time? Were you surprised? Or were you more like Bella in thinking that it seemed reasonable? What do you think of his choice to kill only "bad" humans?
I was surprised actually. I thought he would have followed more closely in Carlisle's footsteps and examples. I didn't think it was so bad once I knew it was the baddies.

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. Dang, I've read Eclipse! However, I thought it would only be a matter of time.

4. Throughout the chapter, Edward is much MUCH more himself. He is very open with Bella and seems very comfortable around her. I understand that this is the day after their time in the meadow, but what do you think specfially changed between them that allows Edward to be so free all of a sudden?
It's because of how open and honest they've been with each other. He no longer has any secrets and he can truly be Edward.

I was surprised at vampires don't need to breathe.

2. How did you feel about Edward's confession that he drank from humans for a short period of time? Were you surprised? Or were you more like Bella in thinking that it seemed reasonable? What do you think of his choice to kill only "bad" humans?

It's reasonable, but I think it's a bit illogical that it took him 10 years until he left Carlisle. He said it's because he understood his attitude, but why now?!

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. Given the interest most fans have in all things romantic where these vampires are concerned, how long do you think it will take Edward to actually get a bed...if he ever gets one at all? To be honest, I didn't really think about it yet. But we all know he bought a bed in Eclipse, so the question is a bit needless.

4. Throughout the chapter, Edward is much MUCH more himself. He is very open with Bella and seems very comfortable around her. I understand that this is the day after their time in the meadow, but what do you think specfially changed between them that allows Edward to be so free all of a sudden?

Everybody is more himself when he is at home, or in familiar surroundings, I think. Even when he's a vampire.

that they are hard to kill/destroy...

2. How did you feel about Edward's confession that he drank from humans for a short period of time? Were you surprised? Or were you more like Bella in thinking that it seemed reasonable? What do you think of his choice to kill only "bad" humans?
every vampire has their bad parts and only "bad" is too general for that.

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. when he askes bella to marry him. in their own house for a few years away from the 'parents' then the charade will begin again... once again, my thoughts...

he doesnt have to hide anything from bella anymore.

I loved the whole chapter because it is the very beginning of how the Cullen's came to be. I was suprised to learn how long it took them to change and that he hid in a pile of potatoes without saying a word despite the excruciating pain. Also, it explains how their "vegetarian" lifestyle was developed and their frame of mind.

2. How did you feel about Edward's confession that he drank from humans for a short period of time? Were you surprised? Or were you more like Bella in thinking that it seemed reasonable? What do you think of his choice to kill only "bad" humans?

It was reasonable. I like that he chose to prey on humans that were bad. He was helping us out! It's respectful I suppose, if you had to live that way

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. I think he will get one if they decide to take their relationship to the next level...

4. Throughout the chapter, Edward is much MUCH more himself. He is very open with Bella and seems very comfortable around her. I understand that this is the day after their time in the meadow, but what do you think specfially changed between them that allows Edward to be so free all of a sudden?

He's in his comfort zone. It's very easy to be more yourself and open when you are at home and have people that love you surrounding you. And obviously, he's decided to open up to her just by bringing her to his home so why hold anything back at this point?

Carlisle tried to starve himself.

2. How did you feel about Edward's confession that he drank from humans for a short period of time? Were you surprised? Or were you more like Bella in thinking that it seemed reasonable? What do you think of his choice to kill only "bad" humans?
I really didn't care, like bella i thought it seemed reasonable that he only killed the bad humans.

3. We get our first peek into Edward's room, which isn't really a bed room since it has no bed. um i know the answer to this.

He doesn't have to hide himself from her anymore. He is freee...
