I thought that the glass wall in the back of the house was a very neat idea. It made me wonder if the cullens have ever come close to accidently breaking it, like when they were just messing around or something. I also wondered how much money they must have spent on it. The house i mean.

Esme seemed to be very gentle and motherly, like we've heard her described as many times. She seems to be very happy that Edward is happy. I don't really recall my impression of Carlisle but i remember them both acting sort of cautious, like they didn't want to frighten Bella.

I don't think i really thought very much of it when i heard that there might be other vampires coming. Obviously that could mean trouble but it sort of just flew to the back of my mind because i was so interested in Bella's interactions with the Cullens.

I think that Bella is more nervous because she doesn't really know very much about the Cullens. Edward has had Charlie as sort of an aqaintance for all of the time that he's lived in Forks. Plus he can read minds so it would be easy to say just what Charlie wanted to hear. Bella wasn't really sure what the Cullens would think of her.

1. What were your impressions of the house that the Cullens live in?

I thought that the house was really pretty, and a place that I would like to live in. It just seems cozy, especially since it was kind of hidden away out of sight. Besides the view is probably amazing.

2. This is the first time Bella meets the Cullens ( other than Carlisle ) and gets to for an impression based on her experience alone. In other words, Edward no longer describes them for her, she gets to see them herself. In this chapter, she mostly interacts with Carlisle and Esme, what were your impressions of them.

Carlisle and Esme at first seemed very careful and unsure how to act around Bella. Not in a mean way or anything. They just wanted to make sure everything went smooth. After Alice kissed Bella on the cheek, I think they relaxed a bit.

3. There is a brief mention of Alice having seen the visit of other vampires. What was your reaction to this when you first read it? Did you have any idea that it would turn into the large disaster that takes over until the end of the novel?

I, too, didn't think too much of it. I just thought that Edward would be more protective than usual when the time came.

4. Edward and Bella describe being nervous about meeting/interacting with each other's families as boyfriend and girlfriend. Who do you think is more nervous Edward or Bella and why?

Bella for sure. Edward just has to meet Charlie. Bella has to meet Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie, Emmet, Jasper and Alice. She already knows that Rosalie doesn't like her too. Besides, Bella is just more shy than Edward.

1. What were your impressions of the house that the Cullens live in?

Surprised. I think I had the exact same reaction that Bella had to it. I don't know what I expected exactly but whatever it was, it was definetly different from how it was. I also loved the glass wall.

They were very nice to Bella. I could tell how happy they were seeing Edward and Bella together especially Esme.

3. There is a brief mention of Alice having seen the visit of other vampires. What was your reaction to this when you first read it? Did you have any idea that it would turn into the large disaster that takes over until the end of the novel?

I had no idea. Even though before I had finished the book, I read some ratings of the book and it mentioned other vampires. I still never even thought about it. But I should have known since in the words of Edward "if theres anything dangerous within a 10-mile radius, it will invariably find" Bella.

4. Edward and Bella describe being nervous about meeting/interacting with each other's families as boyfriend and girlfriend. Who do you think is more nervous Edward or Bella and why? [/color]

Bella by far. Edward is a vampire, how can he possibly be nervous about meeting another ordinary human even if it is Bella's dad. Besides he can just read Charlie's mind and find out exactly what he thinks of him and whats the right thing to say. Bella has to meet six vampires plus shes already a shy person.
"Perhaps he would hesitate to prolong the moment, that ideal moment of anticipation, sometimes better than the kiss itself.
Edward hesitated to test himself.."

1. What were your impressions of the house that the Cullens live in?

I wasn't completely surprised, seeing as Rosalie drives and M3, which I happened to look up after I read that part and found it was amazingly expensive. But I was still shocked that they had such an open house. I would have thought they would have closed themselves off, curtains over the window type of things.

They didn't really want to make her nervous, so they were more reserved.

3. There is a brief mention of Alice having seen the visit of other vampires. What was your reaction to this when you first read it? Did you have any idea that it would turn into the large disaster that takes over until the end of the novel?

I had no idea, I was completely taken by surprise on the whole James thing.I thought nothing of it, that it was mere fact that had been written in for background information. How stupid I was!

4. Edward and Bella describe being nervous about meeting/interacting with each other's families as boyfriend and girlfriend. Who do you think is more nervous Edward or Bella and why?

Well we see it from Bella's Pov so we understand how she's feeling, but I think that maybe Edward was more nervous at th etime. He didn't want her to go running away screaming by what she found there.

psstt.. carlisle was hidden under potatoes, not apples, right?

1. my impressions were.. well, that at first, the way it was so secluded was pretty much expected, but then on the inside was beautiful. I think my subconsious expected that, but i wouldnt see such a house in Forks, the tiny little town... Bella, in the epilogue, says that the cafeteria was probably the only place in forks that could accomodate the dance, but on second reflection, i think that the cullen's house would be big enough for a good party as well.
I also was kind of looking for mention of granite, and other hard-topped surfaces. I just couldnt see the floors covered in homey carpet. And none of the vampires have to worry about getting cold feet first thing in the morning when they get out of bed... actually, they wouldnt be getting out of bed, so it's kind of a moot point...

2. Carlisle was for the most part, old-fashioned, but what can you say? and Esme really wore her heart on her sleeve, didnt she? You could tell she was just a very loving, compassionate person who fills the mother-persona role because of her understanding nature. I could see her "adopted children" coming to her with a problem. Just like any other mom.

3. No, actually, i really didn't see that turn coming. Throughout the whole book, it was kind of just bella/edward, bella/edward, bella/edward interaction as their intriguing relationship progressed; and then all of a sudden, it was all, bella/edward/james triangle, which made it seem kind of like a mini-tangent; the action thrown on onto the end, but it just had to happen, you know? us poor readers eventually had to find out what an impasse they were really in.

4. I agree with mindreader. Edward is so charming and with his special abilities, he can perfectly control a situation like meeting charlie as bella's boyfriend. And chances are that Edward has heard Charlie's defense against them, chewing out Billy and all that. Bella is really anxious about whether his family likes her or not, when she should be worrying about whether they can resist eating her or not. And you kind of notice how Bella doesnt really know how to deal with people not liking her, like Rosalie and Lauren, and Edward on her first day of school, and how she really doesnt put up a defense against them, but just feels crummy and doesnt know what to do. Like I, personally, would of confronted lauren and told her to get over herself, but that's just me. Bella said she had half a mind to go up to Edward and ask him what his problem was, but that she "made the cowardly lion look like the terminator" and knew herself well enough to know that she wouldnt have the guts to do it. But she really doesnt seem to know how to deal with people too well.

1. What were your impressions of the house that the Cullens live in?
I liked it a lot. I love houses that are as light and open as that of the Cullen's, though as a matter of personal opinion, I'd be a little freaked out by living in a house with one of the walls made entirely of glass. I really like the part when we discover that Edward is not only musical, (!!!) but he also owns a grand piano. I WILL have one of those if it's the last thing I do! sorry, I digress...

They were very welcoming of her, and VERY considerate. They knew that she would be nervous to meet them, so they did everything they could to be both friendly and unfrightening toward her.

3. There is a brief mention of Alice having seen the visit of other vampires. What was your reaction to this when you first read it? Did you have any idea that it would turn into the large disaster that takes over until the end of the novel?
I kind of guessed it, considering that they drank from humans, but I wasn't sure.

4. Edward and Bella describe being nervous about meeting/interacting with each other's families as boyfriend and girlfriend. Who do you think is more nervous Edward or Bella and why?
I would have to say Bella, because she was so afraid that the Cullens wouldn't approve of her; not to mention that she's a shy person as it is. Edward, on the other hand, has nothing to worry about because he's just, well, Edward.

1. What were your impressions of the house that the Cullens live in?

I REALLY LIKE IT. VERY FITTING. VERY FREE. DEFINITELY PERFECT FOR THEM.

I THINK THEY WERE VERY WELCOMING, CONSIDERING WHAT EDWARD IS AND BELLA IS NOT. ESME SEEMS LIKE A PERSON WHO CAN FIND GOOD IN JUST ABOUT ANYONE. I LIKE THEM.

3. There is a brief mention of Alice having seen the visit of other vampires. What was your reaction to this when you first read it? Did you have any idea that it would turn into the large disaster that takes over until the end of the novel?

I THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE A LITTLE TENSION, A LITTLE ARGUMENTS, AND MAYBE SOMEONE IN FORKS DISSAPPEARS (YA KNOW, CONSUMED).

4. Edward and Bella describe being nervous about meeting/interacting with each other's families as boyfriend and girlfriend. Who do you think is more nervous Edward or Bella and why?

HM...BELLA FOR CHARLIE. IN CASE CHARLIE MIGHT NOT LIKE EDWARD DEPENDING ON THE RUMORS EVEN THOUGH HE DID NOT BELIVE THEM.

1. What were your impressions of the house that the Cullens live in?
My first thoughts were not very inconspicuous, but I realized that it was fitting. And besides, they're a large family, and they could have had the house built years ago, and they just keep moving into it.

Esme I actually expected was going to be a bit more stand-offish, rather like Rosalie, but I like her behind Bella instead. Carlisle is still a bit of a...not myserious, but unknown charcter to me. I mean, we kow all about his past, but there is just not as much contact with him as there is with the other Cullens (Rosalie excepted, and also Esme, because she's not at school). We know about him, but I don't really think that we truely know him. Does that make sense?

3. There is a brief mention of Alice having seen the visit of other vampires. What was your reaction to this when you first read it? Did you have any idea that it would turn into the large disaster that takes over until the end of the novel?
I didn't think that they would play as a large a part that they did. I honestly thought that they were just going to pass through, maybe make a few ripples, but then leave.

4. Edward and Bella describe being nervous about meeting/interacting with each other's families as boyfriend and girlfriend. Who do you think is more nervous Edward or Bella and why?
Edward, definitley, even though he didn't show it. He had so much more to loose.
