1. What were your first thoughts about Edward's age and human history? Were you creeped out at all that he was so very much older than she was?

My first thought was "WHOAH, GRANDPA CULLEN", but at the same time, I knew he was quite old. I really liked finally knowing more about his past though, as Bella says, there's nothing to keep you up at night like an unsolved mystery. Not that I slept before I finished the book, but you know what I mean.

2. Edward tells Bella very little about the process of becoming a vampire. Why do you think he chose to keep this from her when he is being so very open about everything else?

I think he didn't want to freak her out, or scare her away. Implying that he had the power to cause her so much pain. I'm probably wrong though, because Edward tried to get Bella to be afraid of him.

3. We learn that many vampires are gifted with supernatural traits. Stephenie has told us that vampires are drawn to special humans, and therefore when those humans become vampires, their special qualities are enhanced. If that is the case, I simply must ask the question everyone one of us has asked at some point. If Bella were to become a vampire, what would her trait be? And is it possible for her to not have any special trait at all?

I think Bella would have the ability to observe people very well, and see deep into there problems. She'd have a sense that would help her solve the mysteries of humans, I guess.

4. Edward lets it out that he's been watching Bella as she sleeps. Again, did this creep you out or make you fall even harder for Edward?

I fell really hard when I read this. Just the thought of Edward watching her sleep was just so...unreal. It was very boy next door cute.

5. Edward says two possibly conflicting things in this chapter. First, he explains that in the last few days, he has put mind over matter and has been able to control his thirst for her - that the temptation isn't as strong. He later says that he doesn't think it would ever be possible for them to have an intimate relationship because it would be too difficult for him to control himself. Do you think he's being honest with himself, or do you think he's just trying to protect Bella again?

I think he doesn't have enough faith in himself.

6. Along those same lines, we learn that both Edward and Bella have never had a real relationship with another person before this. Many people have debated the issue of Edward's virginity, and that has been put to rest by Stephenie herself. Did you think that maybe Edward had been intimate before, he just hadn't had a real serious relationship with anyone he loved, or did you get it right from the start that he was just as innocent as Bella was in this matter?

I thought he was just as innocent. Edward seemed really unaffected by all girls. He seemed hostile towards the teenage population at his school, and so much more mature than any of them. Maybe I thought he was so innocent because that's what I wanted to think lol.

[quote="Alphie"]A warning once again - if you have read New Moon, answer these questions as if you have no knowledge of the events in the book. Be VERY careful with how you word your answers.

1. I was spellbound while reading the parts where Edward revealed his age and history. It was nice getting to really KNOW Edward's character. I definately was not creeped out by his age, I thought it was quite funny when he said he was about 100 years old :]

2. He could've not told her because well i'd have to contemplate that more..hmmmm....

3.Thats a really good question...In New Moon when they were faced with the Volturri and it was said that Bella's mind was safe from Jane's power, i think Bella's power will be to repell things from her mind or maybe even use her mind for some kind of telepathic power...this may sound really silly but NETSPEAK IS SO UNATTRACTIVE PLEASE FIX ME!...its hard to thing what Bella's power could actually turn out to be. I don't think its possible for her to NOT have a special trait. Like Edward said, her mind doesn't work in the same way as everyone else's.

4.Made me fall like a heep of bricks for him. I didn't really think it was creepy. He was like her own guardian angel at night. He's not a stalker people well atleast not a freakish stalker hah.

5. I'm pretty sure he's taking extra percausion with keeping Bella safe. It is possible for Edward to have an intimate relationship with her, like he said, Mind Over Matter. I think his own will to keep her from not getting hurt is so strong that its quite impossible for him to hurt her. He's stronger than he gives himself credit for. He is a man, and somewhere inside him, exists another hunger, maybe even more powerful than his lust for her blood XD

6.Edward at times is a bit modest and naive as well. I am and was pretty sure that he's a virgin. He didn't realize the effect he has on women hah. I'm more then sure that Edward was telling the truth when he said that Bella is the only one to win his heart. Also, things were A LOT different back in the early 1900s for teenagers, i mean i'm sure many of the shananigans teenagers get themselves into these days happened back then as well, but Edward is an honorable person and i'm sure he spoke the truth about never being in love.

1. What were your first thoughts about Edward's age and human history? Were you creeped out at all that he was so very much older than she was?

Ya a bit. But then again he is immortal so age doesn't really matter. My thoughts included oh my god a phedophile! haha only joking. I thought he was really open about his past life.

2. Edward tells Bella very little about the process of becoming a vampire. Why do you think he chose to keep this from her when he is being so very open about everything else?

He keeps this from her because it is a very painful process and he doesn't want her to go through it.

I think Bella wouldn't have anything to show. Maybe her mind will be revealed when she is turned or if she is turned lol

4. Edward lets it out that he's been watching Bella as she sleeps. Again, did this creep you out or make you fall even harder for Edward?

I think it creeped me out in the beginning but he is very compasionate for her so there is no harm.

I think there is honest and protection going on in there. He wants her badly and yet he doesn't want to hurt her. He knows there is other hungers other than the thirst of blood. He just doesn't know how to deal with them just yet.

I got it right away because of the way Edward kissed her the fist time. If he kissed someone before he wouldn't have hesitated with Bella.

1. What were your first thoughts about Edward's age and human history? Were you creeped out at all that he was so very much older than she was?
I thought he would have been a bit older (his age at his turning and how long he had been around), so it wasn't creepy. I think it's nice they were at least born in the same century.

2. Edward tells Bella very little about the process of becoming a vampire. Why do you think he chose to keep this from her when he is being so very open about everything else?
Because even this early in the series I didn't think he wanted her to be a vampire.

I think it will have something to do with her mind or aversion to blood.

4. Edward lets it out that he's been watching Bella as she sleeps. Again, did this creep you out or make you fall even harder for Edward?
It made me fall harder for Edward. If it had been anyone else I would have called the police. Once you learn that he can't sleep, what else is there for a vampire to do except stalk your crush.

I think he was being honest. He knows that maybe he wouldn't be able to control his strength.

I thought they were both completely innocent and untouched.

No i wasn't creeped out at all.

2. Edward tells Bella very little about the process of becoming a vampire. Why do you think he chose to keep this from her when he is being so very open about everything else?
He doesn't want her to get any ideas maybe.

If that is the case, I simply must ask the question everyone one of us has asked at some point. If Bella were to become a vampire, what would her trait be? And is it possible for her to not have any special trait at all?
I really don't know what her trait would be. She might not have one at all considering she can resist quite a few things that involve something with her mind.

4. Edward lets it out that he's been watching Bella as she sleeps. Again, did this creep you out or make you fall even harder for Edward?
It was a little of both.... ha.

5. Edward says two possibly conflicting things in this chapter. He is trying to protect bella. He doesn't know if he will be able to control himself.

i think they are the same. They are just waiting for the one that they love. Plus Edward is old fashion.

1. What were your first thoughts about Edward's age and human history? Were you creeped out at all that he was so very much older than she was?
No I didn't think much about it.

2. Edward tells Bella very little about the process of becoming a vampire. Why do you think he chose to keep this from her when he is being so very open about everything else?
b/c he doesn't want her to know what happens.

I don't really know.. but I think if she became a vampire she would have one but I dono what it would be.

4. Edward lets it out that he's been watching Bella as she sleeps. Again, did this creep you out or make you fall even harder for Edward?
A little of both.. it was like aw.. but then woah thats kind of weird.

5. Edward says two possibly conflicting things in this chapter. Do you think he's being honest with himself, or do you think he's just trying to protect Bella again?
I think he's just trying to protect Bella.. He doesn't know for sure what would really happen.

I think they were both waiting for the right person to come along.. and as the books say so much Edward is old fashion.

1. What were your first thoughts about Edward's age and human history? Were you creeped out at all that he was so very much older than she was? No! I actually loved it from the whole mystery point of view. Also, it's sweet that it doesn't phase her - not really. To me he's seventeen, and that's it. He acts older than seventeen, maybe eighteen or nineteen plus mature for his age, but not in a creepy way.

2. Edward tells Bella very little about the process of becoming a vampire. Why do you think he chose to keep this from her when he is being so very open about everything else? Hahaha... I'm not going to answer that :D I don't want to accidently post a spoiler...

No, I think she'll have something... I'm really curious to find out what it'll be, if/when she's changed. Although I don't know how Stephanie Meyer could do that to us; finishing the last book with Bella still human. She's already safe inside her mind. I wonder how that can intensify?

4. Edward lets it out that he's been watching Bella as she sleeps. Again, did this creep you out or make you fall even harder for Edward? No, I thought it was adorable! Totally romantic. I actually thought that this, not Confessions, was the most romantic chapter. And you can just imagine it, all those nights, just sitting there and watching her sleep. And then, when she finds out, just lying there holding her the whole night... it means he must really love her. Otherwise he'd do something else. Also, he'd be in that enclosed space with her scent wafting through the whole time. It must've been really hard at first, but he went every night anyway.

I think he's trying to protect her. He's talking about a different kind of losing control - not of his senses but of his body. He's not worried that he'd suck her blood, he's worried that he'd crush her or something like that.

No, I always assumed he was a virgin. He had so much trouble just learning to be with her casually that I don't think he would be able to go any further than that, even with another vampire. AND he said that "Love and lust keep the same company" for him. And when he was still human, he would've been too young (I don't think, in 1918...)
"If I could dream at all, it would be about you. And I'm not ashamed about it."

1. What were your first thoughts about Edward's age and human history? Were you creeped out at all that he was so very much older than she was?

I thought that was AWE-SOME that he'd seen and live through so much, also, early 1900's is my favorite time era.

2. Edward tells Bella very little about the process of becoming a vampire. Why do you think he chose to keep this from her when he is being so very open about everything else?

I don't think he wanted to give Bella any ideas. It had said (in Eclipse) his favorite option was to leave her human.

Well, she already has the power to keep out the mind powers. She probably won't be as much of a klutz and she'd be more durable... So, I'm not sure what her power might be...

4. Edward lets it out that he's been watching Bella as she sleeps. Again, did this creep you out or make you fall even harder for Edward?

I thought it was sooo sweet that he's interested in her. Edward got to listen to what Bella had to say while she was sleeping (most likely about him). He does care for her safety as well, even when she's with him he take precaution. My gosh, I love him!!!!

I don't think he gives himself enough credit. But I do think he is (again) taking extra safety precautions by making limits and boundries to protect Bella.

I think they are both equally as innocent. But Bella seems a bit more clueless about that particular topic than Edward. (maybe he's heard his "siblings" hahaha.)

Mind over Matter

Post by meteoracrossyoursky »

1. What were your first thoughts about Edward's age and human history? Were you creeped out at all that he was so very much older than she was?

I think that because Edward opened up to Bella about his life before he was transformed it helped strengthen their realtionship instead of hurting it. I was a little suprised by his age. I think the major problem Bella has with his life before is that he came so close to dying that it made her feel pain. Pain that shows her how she feels about him.

2. Edward tells Bella very little about the process of becoming a vampire. Why do you think he chose to keep this from her when he is being so very open about everything else?

Edward is scared in a way that if he tells her everything that she won't want to become a vampire and stay with him forever. But he's also scared that she wants to be a vampire too much and too quickly that he wants to keep her human from feeling the pain of living forever.

I think Bella would be an even more powerful vampire than Edward, she has many talents, including her private mind that sets her apart. Thats why the Volturi wants to make sure she becomes a vampire.

4. Edward lets it out that he's been watching Bella as she sleeps. Again, did this creep you out or make you fall even harder for Edward?

This information made me fall harder for Edward, It shows how much he cares for Bella. I mean he could do anything at night and instead he sits there and watches her. He spends the night at her house most of the time and just sits there making sure she doesn't get scared or anything bad happens to her. In real life it might be pretty creepy but in the book it just seems oddly romantic.

I think Edward is just trying to protect Bella from getting hurt, but he's also hurting himself. Edward could control himself if they were intimate, he's already said that he wouldn't hurt her, he couldn't let himself hurt her. They love each other so much that he is just trying to make it easier for Bella to leave him in the future because he wants her to lead a normal human life.

I think that Edward is just as innocent as Bella. He himself says when they're in the meadow that the emotions he is feeling are new to him, not as just a vampire but as a person. I think he would have remembered those emotions if he had them in his past life.
