Wow, you all have such great answers!

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?

Since Edward doesn't have very many human instincts it's amazing too see how Edward has kept a lot of his humanity throughout the book. But it is best displayed when he lays his head against her chest to hear her heart beat. He would have to have a lot of self control to do something...so...human

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?

The most romantic moment for me is when Edward stops to kiss Bella. Minus Bella's over reaction. It made me so happy, I could not stop smiling.

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?
I think that the most meaningful confession for Edward was how hard it is for him to not simply kill Bella, and the simple truth of how she tortures him by being near him. For Bella, I think she admitted more in chapter 9, when she admits that she really dosn't care what Edward is. "I decided it didn't matter." I think she really just confirms what she has already admitted.

I'm really not so sure on this one. I'm still trying to make sense of the whole 'humanity' issue. Sorry!

I LOVED LOVED LOVED when Bella gets to touch Edward's face, just because its so perfect and its somthing that she wanted to do. I also loved when Edward listened to her heart, it just seemed so much more romantic than kissing her. My favorite line in the WHOLE series is in this chapter; "No on could be still like Edward." That part gets me every time!

Chapter 13

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?
I think that the most meaningful confession from both of them was that they both shared that they loved each other. I think that they were both kind of wondering what the other one thought, and knowing this, it kind of started everything for me.

Most romantic moment was probably when Bella is sick from the run, and Edward tells her to open her eyes, and he is suddenly RIGHT there and he just kind of stares at her and says there was something that I wanted to try... and then he kissed her! Ah! I almost melted! haha
"If I could dream at all, it would be about you, and I am not ashamed of it."

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?
I think for Bella it was her just confessing how hard she had fallen for him.
For Edward, when he told her all of the emotions and thoughts that he felt during their first week knowing each other.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How do is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?
While Edward isn't human, you see that he still feels how a human feel. The fact that he basically pours his heart out for Bella shows that he still has a heart and still has the ability to love. Bella just shows that she is human like everyone else and she was scared of rejection from Edward.

Most definitely it was when they both played the "don't move" game. That was absolutely adorable. And also when Bella basically passes out after Edward kisses her. I had a huge smile on my face when that happened. :D

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?

I have to say the most meaningful confession that Bella made was that she would rather die then be without him, it just shows how devoted to him she is. For Edward it is when he tells her that he would deny his thirst so that he doesn't kill her, that's when I started to wish that I was Bella.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How do is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?

Edward shows his humanity by his frustration with himself. If he really didn't have a shred of humanity then he wouldn't get frustrated with himself. Bella shows her humanity in the way that she knows that it is dangerous and yet is still curious because it is something new.

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?

For me the most romantic moment was when Edward put his head on Bella's chest and also when he kisses her, I was totally unprepared for that and I was thrilled when it happened. :)
and so the lion fell in love with the lamb...

Emmett- "Fall down again Bella?"
Bella- "No Emmett, I punched a werewolf in the face."

Confessions

Post by Justine »

For me, I think Bella's greatest confession is somewhat small compared to how open Edward was about the matter. But then again, she was never comfortable voicing hers.

Her greatest confession was contained in these 2 lines. "I was afraid' because, for, well, obvious reasons, I can't stay with you. And I'm afraid that I'd like to stay with you, much more than I should." and "You already know how I feel, of course," I finally said. "I'm here' which, roughly translated, means I would rather die than stay away from you."

As for Edward, I think it's appropriate to say that it takes up the whole of chapter 13.

This is my favorite chapter so I don't think I have one specific favorite scene because ... ALL of them are equally dear to me. To name some, I'd say ... the cheek of Edward on Bella's chest, Bella touching Edward's face - as if memorizing it for forever, the long moment hugging each other, and, of course, the first kiss.

I don't have my book with me right now to check, but i do remember some part in this chapter. My favorite part is when Edward hint Bella that he fell in love with her, by saying " So the lion fell in love with the lamb ". I'll add more to this post once i get my book back from my friend. :P

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?
If I would have answered this after my first read of TW I would have said Edward's confession to Bella about how hard it was for him not to kill her that first day. Since I have now read the book 3 times, I have to say it is his confession that up to a certain point in the meadow he was still unsure as to wether he was going to take her life that day or not.
As for Bella, her confession to Edward that she wants to stay with him more than even she knows she should.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How do is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?
This chapter is full of "human" moments, but one that realy stands out to me is when Edward tells Bella he would never be able to take her life there in the meadow with no one around to even try to stop him or help her. To me this was very humane.

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?
Oh my gosh! There are so many! I would have to say the MOST romantic moment for me was when Bella was tracing Edwards face after he had had his head laying on her chest. They shared a very potent moment then.

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?

I think the most meaninful confession on Edward's part is that he completely confirmed to Bella exactly what he was. For Bella, I think it was the fact that she accepted him for whomever (or whatever) he was; that wasn't going to change how she felt about him.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How do is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?

I think that humanity is best displayed by both of them in the fact that they are wanting to be with each other no matter the obstacles; also too in the fact that they are not afraid of loving each other.

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?

When he kisses her by the truck.
