The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?

Bella's was most likely revealing how besotted she is, even though she feels shamed by it. Then Edward explained how he was planning a thousand ways to kill Bella and his perpetual thirst for her blood, when she's sitting with him, alone, in a random meadow. Cool. Those two were fairly important.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How do is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?

Just the fact that they both have to make an effort indicates their humanity, and being unable to completely control the unexpected. Edward isn't perfect (for once), and Bella inadvertently makes it harder for him, so they're brought down to a fairly equal playing field because of Bella's humanity. And definitely their awkwardness, every human has felt that once or twice. Not to mention mention Edward's manly ego, he does like to show off around Bella, and that's pretty homo sapien.

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?

On Edward's part: "You are exactly my brand of heroin," and "You are my life now." Naturally I can't think of Bella's...maybe just her reaction to him. Most humans would stay away, but Bella is maniacal, in a romantic way.[/b]
I think it's trying to communicate...

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?

On Bella's side the most meaningful confession is that she would rather die than stay away from Edward. On Edward's side it is the confession how very tempting Bella was to him on her first day and how she is still "exactly his brand of heroin", making him more dangerous for her than he is for anyone else.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?

First of all by the way they act toward each other. Their affection for each other and the physical contact; way they test how far they can go. Their akwardness as they both never experienced a situation like that before.

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?

The moment they declare themselves to each other. Edward telling her that she is the most important thing to him ever and Bella telling him that she would rather die than stay away from him.
Also, the moment when Edward touches her, telling her to be still while he holds her head in his hands and rests his cheek against her throat.

Well I think both Edward and Bella's confessions were big. My favorite part was almost all the chapter but the biggest was when they kissed. I was so happy!!!

Questions bore me. I'm just talking.

The thing I remember most about reading this chapter for the first time was when Edward and Bella kissed. I thought, FINALLY! AFTER 272 PAGES, THEY FINALLY KISS!

But, yeah. One of my favorite chapters. I love the romance all around, and the forest glade thing is romantic in its own way.
I have not lost my mind. Rather, my mind went on an all-expense-paid Caribbean vacation and never came back.

I'm surprised there are only 3 pages on this thread! I thought everyone would want to comment on the story-turning chapter.

This is my favorite chapter. When I read it I felt like I was there. It was so good. I don't think I realized Edward was in love with Bella until he said the "lion and the lamb" line. And I'm glad he did and that they both acknowledged their love. It really makes me crazy when people hold in things that should be known. So Bellas and Edwards openness was great.
I'm also glad they didn't kiss right away. In relationships people rush things with kissing and sex. Sometimes the best part is just being around each other. Bellas and Edwards time in the meadow was just that.

This was my favorite chapter also. I loved how Edward was open with Bella, and didn't hold back what he was feeling because of the fear of making her scared of him. This really shows that that he loves her. I think when a guy (or vampire) opens up to someone, that means they truly love them. And I thought that it put Bella's confused thoughts at ease. And I like all of Bella's thoughts on Edward through out this chapter. She then truly realized that he is extremely dangerous, yet she doesn't care because her love is stronger.

I agree also. Just their company together and their meek physical contact was very romantic.

I'm not sure why, but I love the line "What a sick, masochistic lion."

It's ridiculous I know... and I could comment on any other part of the chapter, but that line signals a defeat of some sort. And I like it.

Im not sure about Bella...but for edward, when he says "you are my life now" i creid.....

the ability to love and just want to be w/ someone. we pictured vampires are cold and evil. but thats all erased here. i also, love it when he comments on how he can feel her warmth

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?
then he moved his face along her face and neck, i was sooo into it, i could feel it
Edward: If you could have anything in
the world, what would it be?
Bella: You

"Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars, points of light and reason....And then then you shot across my sky like a meteor.Suddenly everyting was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty..."

I would probably say that when she's caressing his hand, and she asks if he minds, and it says:

"'No,' he said without opening his eyes. "you can't imagine how that feels.' He sighed"

I love when he said that! I took it as he's like accepting that he is now falling into the trap we all call LOVE.
