Re: Chapter 13 ~ Confessions

Post by starstoned »

I would like to start off with a question: I've been curious about this for a while now but in the chapter after he's done showing his "true self" to Bella he appologizes for his behavior and then asks; "Would you understand what i meant if i said i was only human?" i don't get what he means by this question i appreciate anyone explaining it to me.

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?
For Bella i think admitting to him openly that she wanted to stay with him and that she felt so much fear that she couldn't be with him forever.
For Edward... he has so many its hard to choose..... i think admitting that he is selfish in that he craves her company to the point he's willing to risk loosing control and hurting her but honestly he seemed to have the most trouble admitting how cowardly he was running away to alaska and admitting that her blood was so potent that every moment he spends with her drinking it will always cross his mind.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How do is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?
I think her humanity is shown when she unexpectedly leans in to get close to him but they both display it when they're touching each other coming so close to giving into there desires and then when Edward finally does kiss her its just awesomeness jumping out of the page like a pop-up book.

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?
Just when they're touching each other. When shes using her finger to trace his forearm finally touching him when she wanted to. And of course when he puts head on her and gliding his nose against her collarbone and stoping to listen to her heart and then her leaning in to place her head on his chest and he finally embraces her.............. wow thats all i got wow. lol

becuase he's never experianced the feelings he's felt for Bella before it's jsut as new to him as it is to her, and they are all very human emotions I guess, they make him feel...alive?
it hard to explain I don't know if they were the right words

The most romantic moment for me in Confessions is (obviously) everything. It's my favorite chapter in the whole series. It's the turning point -- where they finally know where their relationship is going.

Anyway, I have a question. When Edward said "[Emmett's] been in the wagon longer." what did he mean? I don't understand. Please enlighten me :D

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?

The most meaningful one of Edward's part is the fact that he told her how irresistable he finds her blood. As for Bella, the fact that she is so in love with him taht she would rather die than be away from him, or at least risk death.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How do is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?

Their love and caring for one another is the thing that best displays it. It is more significant for Edward simply because he never really considers himself human anymore and since he still has this sort of emotion towards her just proves that he has quite a bit of humanity in him.

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?

At first I thought it was a bit weird but afterwards I realized the significance. But the part where Edward places his head against her heart, not only is it a bit of a sensual act but also the difficultly for him behind it but he was able to control himself very well.

Edward means that Emmett has been doing the "vegetarian" thing much longer than Jasper and since he's kept himself away from temptation then the incredible attractive smell would be more obvious to him than to Jasper who was always hunting humans for about a hundred years or so.
Here, there, and everywhere...that's where you'll find me.

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?

A: Their feelings, of course. To finally admit directly just how involved they both are in the dangerous game is scary. They fear one wrong word will send the other running and neither one can bear the idea.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How do is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?

A: Bella's attempts to show she's not afraid of him. To show she sees him as more than he thinks he is - more than a monster, still human in so many ways. Edward tries extra hard to show he cares, show his concern and his desire to protect her outweighs the natural instinct that he fights constantly when he's with her not to drink her blood.

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?

A: You actually expect me to pick just one? Good luck! :D

1. The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think is the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?
The most meaningful confession on Bella's part was that she was afraid. That she is, at least a little bit, afraid of what Edward is and what it means for her. It shows that while her love is mostly clouding her view of it she is still seeing clearly enough to recognize that the danger is there.
Edwards' most meaningful confession was when he explains the affect her blood has on him. To show her so plainly the 'monster' in himself when the natural reaction is to show our lovers only our best must have been so hard for him.

2. The subject of humanity and what it means to be truly human constantly comes up. How is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?
Their humanity is shown in the way they love each other, the way they push themselves to be closer, to make their relationship more real. It is the human thing to ignore all obstacles and push past them in order to get what we want and they (Edward especially) are doing just that.

3. This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?
The most romantic moment was when Bella was just tracing Edward's hand. It is the first time they get really meaningful physical contact and yet the image I get is that of a couple who has been together forever, simply content in the smallest of touches. I think it shows a lot about the depth of their connection.

YAY! 13! My favorite number!
1 The whole love thing, cause the rest of their emotions, (fear, thirst, their natural instincts) are clouded by it.

2 Well, I think Edward has a soul, but I won't rant about that until I get to the New Moon questions neither will I mention how hypocritical Edward has been(Wait, that's not even this chapter anyway). I think that having a soul is part of being human, my idea of a soul is so different from most people, I think that being human means having emotions, And that because Edward and Bella can love and hate and be sad or angry, they are human (in a very odd sense, because to answer this, we have to define human, therefore, if you think like me, we have to define soul.).
That probably made no sense whatsoever.

3 I don't know. If I try to answer I'll probably write a five page ranting document in 6 point font (I know I can, I have a document about pretty much nothing in 6 point font that has over 46 thousand words.)
"I swore and threw some rocks into the water. Eventually wasn't soon enough."
