Amzon.com - how quickly will Breaking Dawn arrive?

Does anyone know how quickly Breaking Dawn will arrive from Amzon.com? Do they try to get the book to you on the release date or will it be a few days after that?

it should tell you on the site, it can either be overnight shipping, a few days, or like a specific amount of working days. it really depends, especially on where you live.

Thanks for replying! I placed a "1 day shipping" order but it says it won't arrive until Aug 5th but someone told me that with big releases they make sure it arrives the same day it hits stores. I wasn't sure if that was true or not so I thought I'd find out from folks who placed orders in the past...

So if anyone knows for certain...?

My brother-in-law used to work for Amazon, so maybe he'd know. But he was mostly for tech stuff and not so much shipping. I'll ask, but I can't guarantee anything...

I am going to the release party at B&N so my sister is picking up her copy then and hopefully I won't have to wait for mine to be shipped from Amazon that long.

I heard with Harry Potter 7 they shipped it out a few days before and so that it would arrive the day of. Not sure how true that is though.

I ordered mine from Borders since I saw the ads on this site that says you'll receive it on Aug 2nd. But when it came for shipping, I was not about to choose one day shiping and pay an extra 19 bucks, so now I'm worried I won't get it on the right day.

Do you guys think it will take longer since I picked standard shipping?

With Harry Potter 7 they did do that. I ordered it through them but the difference was that they had advertising all over their website telling the public that if your ordered the book through them they would get it to you the day it was released. (I believe I also got a generic email saying as much.) But I've not seen any advertising or received an email like the HP7 email since I've placed the order...thus my question. Hopefully they will mail it in advance, too. Really don't want to wait.

But I know that when NM and EC came out some shipped it off early. So you might end up being a lucky one and getting yours before all of us!

Though I doubt that Detroit will be fast, for some reason the Amazon deliveries that go through there are so slow getting to me. They use to be fast when the came straight from Lexington. Hmm...I wish I knew where it was coming from.
