They love one another like I love chocolate. I say I love chocolate but I really love myself, and chocolate makes me happy. Yes, you got it, it can easily be interpreted that the same thing goes on with Bella and Edward. Deeper? Sure, a drug addict 'loves' his drugs more than I love chocolate. Same thing with Bella and Edward. It's an addiction, not love.
So if I say I love my family, do I really only love myself because my family makes me happy? I love books, writing, sports, people, food, music, movies, romance, parks, beaches. Does that really mean I only love myself? I just don't get it. You love chocolate. Period. It making you happy doesn't affect your love for it. It making you happy is the result of that love.
Sure. But Bella and edward never developed real love. They went from mutual attraction to 'I'd risk my cover as a vampire for you/I'd leave my life and change into a vampire to be with you' in such little time that no real love could've developed. Obsession can be that immediate. Love can't. I love my family, but that's partly because i've had all my life to grow to care about them so much. Bella and Edward were already in what they called 'deep, true, irrevocable love' in under a month. Real loving emtions don't work like that, but obsessive tendencies, which the parties suffering can mistake for ddep love, do. That's all.

I'm not convinced that love cannot happen quickly. Maybe not love at first sight, but who is anyone to say how long it should take to fall in love. It's different for everyone. There is no code you follow....ie, if you havent known eachother for this long it must not be love. It's individual. Maybe I fall in love quicker than you. If I say I am in love, who is anybody to say I'm not??
I personally am convinced that Bella and Edward love eachother. I am also convinced that Bella loves Jacob as well, a fact that I might not like but I believe it.

Guys.... Can I ask you all please in the nicest way to knock it off? You are all articulate and intelligent posters who know the difference between unimpassioned debate and badly-disguised impatience with one another. If other people's opinions annoy you, please don't post about them until you can control your annoyance. If you can't put your opinions tactfully enough that they're not going to annoy someone else (and yes, on a message board that means going the extra mile to put avoid extreme statements of your position!) please don't post them. Debate is interesting. Arguments are no fun. We can all tell which is which.

And remember......these characters mean a lot to people here. That doesn't mean you can't criticize them, but...do it nicely. Like you would if you were talking to someone about a friend of theirs. Like you'd want people to talk about your friends. SERIOUSLY....

Be nice. Or the Management will probably come close down this conversation.

Okay so kind of a new topic...but still hopefully on topic. It seems, and I could be totally wrong, that most people who are Team Edward also love Jacob and want him to be happy, they just dont want Bella with him. But those who are Team Jacob pretty much can't stand Edward. I wonder why that is. Like I said I could be wrong, I am not generalizing Team Jacob or Team Edward, that's just what I have noticed when I read posts. Anyway, does anyone have an opinion on why that might be?

Actually, a lot of people on Team Edward have expressed deep virulent hatred for Jacob. See any character death thread.

^ That made me laugh for some reason. Haha.

Anyway, for Bella, Edward. I read the previous posts and I found those point of views interesting, but I do in fact believe Edward and Bella are in deep, true love with each other. I also believe some amount of obsession is mixed in though; how largely is subjective, I guess. Either way, love their relationship. I'm just sappy like that.

however, I also want Jacob to be happy and imprint. He also seems to be obsessed with Bella in some way. Hmm. I wonder why mythical creatures didn't obsess with her so much in Phoenix. Anyway, Jacob should imprint and be happy. Bella can suck it up; she's dug herself a hole and she can just live with it.

Sorry if that sounded harsh, but I'm kind of tired (in a 'I can't sleep' way) and that's just my straightforward view.

Edward and Bella belong together; Jacob needs to imprint and get his own girl and stop trying to steal someone else's.

Wow. I thought I was the only person who noticed that. I am Team Edward, but I think Jacob is a good kid. Some things he did ticked me off a bit, but if Edward didn't exist, I would completely be in love with Jacob.
But it sometimes seems (just in general, not referring to anybody in particular) that people who love Jacob tend to think Edward as a fake, creepy, overprotective, and just a really indecent character.
I think it may have to do with the fact that Edward usually (again, just my speculation) gets more love than Jake. Maybe people feel the need to defend Jacob more intensely, and in result they wind up semi-bashing Edward. Whether its intentional or not, I don't know. Those people could probably tell us better themselves, because I could very well be completely wrong.

Sorry if this was long and off-topic. Feel free to disregard my rant.

Well, let's just say, "this would be difficult to do on a couch' sums up the bedward situation.

Jella sounds like Jello, but don't get me wrong, I really think that Bella needs Jacob in her life, just not in the romantic way that Jake would prefer.

That's really interesting and something I've noticed too! I'm 110% Team Edward but I do care about Jacob and I really hope he's happy and finds someone awesome to imprint on. From the start I just wished that their relationship was totally platonic because it would be so nice for Bella to just have a good friend outside the Cullen fam.

I don't think it's fair to generalize all of Team Jacob, but a huge portion of them is really Edward hating! I honestly think that a lot of it is just out of their frustration that in the end it will be Bella and Edward. And a lot of people are just completely unromantic and think he's creepy.

What bugs me the most though is when people say they don't like Edward because they think he's flat and boring and "too perfect". Yah he's perfection in a way...... but if you think that Edward is 100% perfect in every way, you haven't absorbed the story at all. He's so CONFLICTED and his whole situation is just so sad when you think about it. Just being near the person he loves is such a struggle and I think people should think about where he's coming from and how impressive it is that he acts the way he does

Anyway, I'll continue the conversation above me. I find that some people, if they've read New Moon before Twilight, grow more attached to Jacob because they weren't able to be dazzled by Edward.

I'm not sure how to explain the thinking of the ones who have read the books in order, though. They might just find that Edward's personality doesn't fit with their own and they relate more to Jake, having his heart broken and not getting the girl. Edward is suppose to be a character that everyone likes, but every once and a while, you're going to run into a few people who aren't dazzled by him.
