Bella Growing more Mature

While I agree she has matured, she has not matured ENOUGH. She still seems confused to me all the time, and always in a self conflicting war with herself. She makes her decisions, and then in the next book she is back in the same place. It kind of bothers me. But I do love Bella and I hope that Breaking Dawn brings a more mature and stable part of her, the first chapter did not do that for me. It felt like I was just reading another chapter of Eclipse for half of it.

I agree with her being more confused. I also think she is more whiney, when edward does something nice for her she always is complaining and it gets on my nerves but thats just her Character. It just makes me angry when Jacob tries to do something she is less whiney but yeah.

I understand Bella's whiney-ness. Its like if you were to give someone a flower and they give you back a dozen roses. She feels like he is giving her WAY to much, when all she is giving him is herself, even though WE all know that that is enough for him. She feels like their realationship is uneven.

And I also understand her reasons for marrying Edward. Yeah, she really wants that human experience and to be changed, but its not like she doesn't love him but she's marrying him to get those things. She just doesn't feel the need to have the official ceremony like Edward does, because as far as she is concerned, what they have is much stronger than marriage.

I totally agree with you! I think of it the same way i understand Bella her whining. I wouldn't want either that someone always gave me a lot of things i don't care if it are expensive things or not. If someone gives you alot and you can't return it that isn't nice for you. Bella just feels ashamed! And as you said she feels like ther relationship is getting off balance. Great that someone feels it the same way as I feel it.

I do not think there should be any doubt to Bella's maturing. Eclipse really showcased that growing up, the shift from a teen to an adult, for me at least. Bella had to make a decision that would change her forever, and stay with her forever. She has loved and lost, all before the age of 20! I think she really is wise beyond her years, as Renee points out in the conversation, she is an "old soul". I also think things in her life have kind of forced her to grow up faster than most people her age. I am beyond excited for Breaking Dawn and the new and improved Bella. I think that this time around she won't be afraid or back down. The few lines on the cover tell me that she is grown up and ready to start her new life, with Edward, I assume. I cannot wait!

i think she matured mostly in Eclipse. now in breaking dawn she's not trying to get out of the situation, she's....resigned in a way, like billy about jacob. she knows she can't do anything about it, so she doesn't try...

she's heading in the right direction. she's not actiilly complaining about the wedding. she is driving the car, in the previous books she would have taken the bus over driving a new car.

i was looking at the quote from the cover, and it hints to bella finally realizing that she is good enough for edward. it will be great to see her have real self confidence

She is definitely more mature...She has grown more mature as the books progress....She has made some really tough choices and I think that maybe that is what matured her. She finally realizes that she loves Edward and even though she was worrying about Jacob in the first chapter she knows now. But also she was a little more mature with Edward in Eclipse then she was with Jacob. Now that she's 'cried' that part of herself out she has become way more mature. I'm starting to ramble but I think yawl get me. I think I'm going to like her more in Breaking Dawn..(maybe)

like in the preface she may seem matured
but whenever she faces death she is
always matured lol xD

Yeah I agree that we can't really tell how mature she is until we get into the rest of the book, because she does always seem to have the "things happen for a reason" outlook when she is close to dying. But stephenie's writing has changed in this book, and it may be to give her a more mature look. Hmm but she seems to have gotten over the fact that she can't control everything, and has accepted her future with edward and the cullens.
