She is definitely able to control her emotions much better than before. As for her getting more mature, I don't think it's drastic (well I may have to reread the chapter first) because I think it started in Eclipse just a tiny bit and now that she is realizing what is going to happen, she's not overreacting as much as before. However, I am glad we'll be seeing a more mature Bella in BD and less teenage angst. :P
Here, there, and everywhere...that's where you'll find me.

bella has matured from what can be seen in the first chapter. i have to agree that she can control her emotions better and she seems to have a better relationship with charlie too. one thing that really hit me was when she said that she didn't want edward to see her crying or else he would be unhappy too. bella wouldn't have said anything like that in eclipse.

I know what you mean about the crying; that would never have occured to her before. I think what really matured her was when she finally understood that shehad to let go of Jacob or else she would only put him in more pain, and ever since she had the strength to stop being destructive to those around her she's really learned a lot about growing up.

I kind of agree with Hereandthere I do think that she's able to control her emotions way way better but I am going to miss the her that overreacted about everything. Her growing up had to happen but I do hope that she stays somewhat emotional even if she can control them better.

What I also found interesting was that Edward going hunting didn't seem to cause her as much anxiety.
and so the lion fell in love with the lamb...

Emmett- "Fall down again Bella?"
Bella- "No Emmett, I punched a werewolf in the face."

I don't think that Bella has gone through a HUGE change in maturity, I think she is finally in the acceptance stage of everything...She has accepted the fact she will get married, and that Jake is upset....she knows she might not be able help him, but she still cares...she is not exactly thrilled with how her life is going, but she has accepted the fact that she will need to suffer a bit now in order to be happy later...(with Edward!)

Bella is maturing because she has chosen the path she will take. She's decided on what she wants in her future and knows i suppose in a way what the future holds. She's ready for all the obstacles and problems that she'll have to face in the future...she knows the consequences of her chosen path and she ready to face them.
I AGREE! She knows now what it means to be with Edward, she is not going into this blind, she is fully aware. There is a peace in her that brings along the maturity we hear in her.

I was glad that Bella matured but was still able to keep herself through everything. I was a little worried (who knows why, Stephenie Meyer is a genius) that Bella going to be different but she is still captured through this new growth and maturity.

It sounds like Bellas really grown up alot since Eclipse (how much time went by anyway?). I haven't read the first chapter of Breaking Dawn yet, and i hope to soon, but did it say anything about Bella's reason for getting married changeing too? Cause that's one of the things that i hated about the whole 'marriage' deal: the fact that Bella seemed like she was only getting married to go on her honeymoon. I personally wish she'd get married to, well...get married! To get married because she wants to be tied to Edward in that way as well. So, anybody see any changes in that situation?

I was struck by Bella's maturity here as well. In the ending scenes of Eclipse this began, and it seems to be continuing in Breaking Dawn. I liked when Bella specifically brought up the consequences of her becoming a vampire; recognizing that there was a difference between experiencing things as a human and experiencing thing after the change. Back in Twilight, she didn't care at all about this aspect of the bite. I was waiting for that to be addressed, because it's one of the downsides to the change into a vampire. Bella also seems more in tune with the emotions of everyone around her, which is also a nice change.

Bella, how strongly are you opposed to grand theft auto? ~Alice
