Chapter Twenty-three: Monster

Postby Alphie » Thu Jul 10, 2008 6:27 pm

1. Edward states that his best night ever was the night Bella said yes to marriage. Bella never states specifically her best night ever. What night do you think she would choose?

2. What do you think Edward said to Jacob to get him to come back to the tent?

3. Bella seems genuinely surprised by her own reaction to Jacob's kiss. Have you ever been pleasantly surprised by your own reaction to someone's kiss or even just a hand hold?

4. The title of the chapter is Monster. Why do you think Stephenie Meyer named it this?

1. Edward states that his best night ever was the night Bella said yes to marriage. Bella never states specifically her best night ever. What night do you think she would choose?
I think her best night will be after they are married and they finally try to make love. But before then I would guess her best night ever would be after the vote; when Edward agrees that he is willing to change her into a vampire. She wants him to change her, so his promise is probably her best night ever.
2. What do you think Edward said to Jacob to get him to come back to the tent?
Probably along the lines of Bella is really hurting that he left so quickly and that he was obviously mad at her. Most likely just a guilt trip that Jacob was making Bella unhappy, so come back and make her happy before Jacob leaves.
3. Bella seems genuinely surprised by her own reaction to Jacob's kiss. Have you ever been pleasantly surprised by your own reaction to someone's kiss or even just a hand hold?
I have never been serious with someone, but I have been surprised at some hand holds. I never thought this guy liked me and then it turns out that he does.
4. The title of the chapter is Monster. Why do you think Stephenie Meyer named it this?
Bella feels like she is a monster for realizing that she is hurting Jacob by actually loving him. She is also hurting Edward because Edward can see that some part of Bella loves Jacob but he really doesn't know how Bella feels about Jacob. Bella just can't trust herself in not hurting anyone anymore.
Staring into his eyes always made me feel extraordinary-- sort of like my bones were turning spongy. I was also a little lightheaded, but that could have been because I'd forgotten to keep breathing. Again.

The night when they almost did love. Or, the one when they returned from Italy, after such a long time to be at his side...

2. What do you think Edward said to Jacob to get him to come back to the tent?

That Bella was hurt, and that he admits that she needs Jacob.

3. Bella seems genuinely surprised by her own reaction to Jacob's kiss. Have you ever been pleasantly surprised by your own reaction to someone's kiss or even just a hand hold?

Yeah, I liked a guy, a really really hto one, so I never really thought about the fact that he might like me (he was also older than me...), so when he hold my hand and kissed me I was VERY suprised. It was actually then that I truly realised that I DID liek him a lot.

4. The title of the chapter is Monster. Why do you think Stephenie Meyer named it this?

Beacuse Bella WAS a bti of a monster. hurting everyone. Oh! I hated this chapter!!! WHY? WHY? OH WHY??? Oh well, it already happened. I feel liek dying. WHY BELLA, WHY??? Edward would NEVER do that. Oh well, oh well. Also, now she'll hurt both of them. (Edward will read Jacob's mind... DAMN IT!!!! AHHHHH)
<<<sorry, I am such so angry about this chapter. DAMN IT! 00I usually don't talk liek thios--- DAMN IT!>>> sorry :-D

2. What do you think Edward said to Jacob to get him to come back to the tent?

I think Edward himself apologized for letting Jacob find out about the marriage plans the way he did, I also think he told him how upset Bella was and neither one of them could stand to see her like that so he went back to talk to her.

3. Bella seems genuinely surprised by her own reaction to Jacob's kiss. Have you ever been pleasantly surprised by your own reaction to someone's kiss or even just a hand hold?

Yes, my boyfriend right now actually (he's no Edward Cullen, but then again who is? I'd give him a close second though! tee hee!) The first time he kissed me it was amazing, so much better than I ever thought it would be! And to top things off after we stopped he hiccuped (Awwwwww, it was so adorable! ^.^) He's my Jacob, my sun. <3

4. The title of the chapter is Monster. Why do you think Stephenie Meyer named it this?

Simply for the fact that Bella feels like a monster for loving Jacob as much as she does and having to hurt him in the process.

I don't know if this is okay, or if we are supposed to just talk about the questions...

but I have to say:
the kissing scene between bella and jacob is one of my favorite scenes in the book. to me it was soo surprising that bella responded that way!!

And HOW it comes to her response... I could have never imagined that.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think that it's ok of jacob to be violent. but it fascinated me how bella, trying to pull jacob away, causes him to imagine passion, and jacob's sudden joy causes her to kiss him back.

and when she sees her possible future with jake... it's so sad!

though I love jacob, I don't think he and Bella should be together...

nevertheless , I just love this scene... it's overwhelming.

1. Edward states that his best night ever was the night Bella said yes to marriage. Bella never states specifically her best night ever. What night do you think she would choose?
Hmm...I often think it might be the first night she KNEW he stayed with her...after being at the meadow that day.

2. What do you think Edward said to Jacob to get him to come back to the tent?
I think he told him the truth....Bella NEEDED to talk to him. He probably said it would mean a lot for Bella to have the opportunity to speak to him.

3. Bella seems genuinely surprised by her own reaction to Jacob's kiss. Have you ever been pleasantly surprised by your own reaction to someone's kiss or even just a hand hold?

I think she was surprised because this is the first time her passion has truly been able to get out of control...she's never been able to get that "into" it with Edward. As to the question about my own reaction, sure...I'll go with, "Yes".

4. The title of the chapter is Monster. Why do you think Stephenie Meyer named it this?
Bella thinks herself a monster because of how she has hurt both Edward and Jacob. Stephenie Meyer really tapped into Bella as a character, and this is how Bella would classify herself.

1. Edward states that his best night ever was the night Bella said yes to marriage. Bella never states specifically her best night ever. What night do you think she would choose?

Hmm. If I was her, it would be the night that they were in the meadow...

2. What do you think Edward said to Jacob to get him to come back to the tent?

Probably that Bella wanted to talk to him. I bet Jacob was expecting someone to go after him. So it probably didn't take much convincing.

3. Bella seems genuinely surprised by her own reaction to Jacob's kiss. Have you ever been pleasantly surprised by your own reaction to someone's kiss or even just a hand hold?

I never had a boyfriend. That's why I love Twilight so much. It made me truly experience what love should be like. (But don't worry, I know that sometimes it doesn't work out like that.) It really set my expetations up high.

4. The title of the chapter is Monster. Why do you think Stephenie Meyer named it this?

Because Bella feels like a monster for wanting both Edward and Jacob. And in my opinion, she should feel like that. My friends and I have a little thing we like to say about Bella concerning this, but I won't say it, because I'm sure it would offend some of you Bella fans.
