i would hope that if they had run into him on the raid he would have helped... that at least is what i want to think :D

He felt very, healer like. He seemed gentle and truly passionate about healing. I think he was partially meant to represent the ideal soul: someone who was honest, kind, and severely opposed to violence.

I agree...he did seem to represent the ideal soul. I found it interesting that he felt sympathy for Melanie, well for the body anyhow, as her "ending" was so traumatic. Going in, I didn't think that the souls would feel for the humans...

I believe he could "go native," but I also believe he could end up as some sort of ambassador between the humans and the souls...if souls and humans could live together in harmony...

I hope we get to see more of Fords. He does represent the perfect soul; he does his calling, is totally kind and compassionate. But I think there's something more to him. He truly believes in being a Healer, the kindness from him isn't just from the fact that he's a soul. It comes from himself too.
Some things exist whether you believe in them or not.

i was a little dissapointed that he didnt have a larger role in The Host. He's one of my favorite characters.

Fords was a pretty decent guy from what I gathered, and as many of you stated, I was sorry to see him disappear throughout the rest of the book. Actually, at the very end, when Burns was first introduced, I'd originally expected him to actually be Fords, as Fords definitely struck me as the type to "go native." I was kind of disappointed when it turned out he wasn't, though.

I actually wanted more of him then we got. I think that if she continues on with the sequels that he will come up again.

I think Fords was a pretty cool guy. He wasn't totally mean to Wanda when she first woke up. I hope to see more of him in the sequels (if Steph writes a sequel). I thought he seemed a lot like Doc, and I did kind of like him.

I agree. I hope to see more of him in future books. He just kind of completly disappeared... :? and we never see him again. I have a huch that he'll definatly appear again if Steph writes sequels (which I hope she does! :) )

She may make this a trilogy with The Seeker & The Soul as books #2, # 3 :D All in Wanda's POV. Sound interesting!
