When I read the excerpt on SM's website, I was bored. Seriously bored. But I wanted to give it a try because it was SM and I love her writing.

So I did, and I'm very glad I did.

I didn't really get into it til about 100 pages in, but then I really liked it. I wouldn't say love, but I do like it a lot. I'd read a sequel.

It didn't exactly end the way I'd hoped. Somehow the idea of Wanderer in a different body didn't seem right. But I cried when Doc took her out. Bawled like a baby.

I'm not sure Stephenie should write a sequel. I think that this book should stand on its own, personally.
I'd love to see more Ian and Wanda, but I like where SM left it and I think it would be hazardous to try and revive the book with a sequel or a series...

just my opinion :D

^ It gets easier to get into later. I had the same issue.

Honestly, I didn't think that I'd like it. I was at Target getting a book (My Target has a stupendous selection of YA/Adult books.) And, I was thinkin about getting that. I almost got something else, but I heard how good it was, so I decided to humor myself.

A week later, I'm obsessed as much as I am with Twilight.

Post by Brazil314 »

Okay so the first time I read the book the beginig. .. totally confused me. And the lack of intimacy kind of was weird for me.

Then I lent it to a friend, got it back, read it again. ANd it totally hit home .. and really enjoyed it :P

I cant wait for Mrs. Meyers next masterpeice :D

I'd just finished reading The Host a few minutes ago. (Yeah, yeah, call me a bad fan for not bothering to check it out until three days ago.) And I have to say, Stephenie has blown my mind away. The Host is radically different from Twilight, but unbelievably great in its own way.

The first hundred pages or so were rather...slow. But things started picking up as Melanie's memories were revealed, and we finally had some conflict with the Seeker. It was rather confusing at first to tell whether it was Wanderer or Melanie talking, but I soon got used to it. (I took to counting the lines, starting with the first line being what Wanda/Mel would say, and alternating the rest.)

Ah, I cringed with Wanda as she was beaten, and gawked as she continued to love Jared. I fell in love with the wonderful character of Ian! I loved how Stephenie managed to mix in a few moments of humor (ex: Ian's and Jared's banter on jealousy through pages 383 to 385) through the tension and suspense!

The Host will definitely look just as lovably beat up as my Twilight copy as I go through and reread it again and again.
Awesome banner thanks to leaf!

Did you seriously just stamp your foot? I thought girls only did that on TV.
