The Ending

Haha, I already posted my thoughts here but my friend just came up with an interesting theory:

Suppose there is a sequel. Burns seems to be a really great character to delve into, and Wanda is interested in his Fire World background as well. Do you think he'll become romantically interested in Wanda, and make Ian jealous (ahem AGAIN)? I personally think it'd be a bit much, to have yet another love triangle, but ponder what you will.

Just thought I'd post and see your thoughts.

I loved the part where Ian said he held Wanda in her soul form in his hand
I didn't really like that Wanda's new body is so young though
And it would be awful if there was a love triange with Burns, Wanda and Ian! I would be devastated

i liked the fact that the seeker's soul was a total grinch haha.
i'm not sure if it bothered me that wanda stayed i kind of liked her and at the same time i didn't.
i wan to read it over so i might change my negative opinions
but i don't think much changed in my mind snce like may 10th

I loved Wanda! She was my second favorite character right after Ian. Why did you not like her? Just curious, was she too nice? Or was it because she was in Melanie's body?

Did you see this ending coming or were you expecting something else?

And how do you feel about Wanda in a new body? How does it change the way you think Ian and Wanda will work as a couple?

I really didn't expect the ending. Honestly, when I thought she was actually leaving earth for good I was tearing up! It was so sad then I turned the page and kept reading and was in shock. It was definitely a twist for me But an amazing one at that.

I don't think Wanda being in a new body changes the way Wanda and Ian are in a couple (and in love..aww ). That's party due to the fact that Ian is in love with Wanda the soul and not Mel's body. He knew she was a soul and he would love her just as much, if not more, in a new body. It was a little awkward at first in the book because Wanda was still 'in love' with Jared and she needed to get over that but she soon came to her sense. hehe. I really hope there is another book in the making, I absolutely love it.

I really thought she was going to die too. I was so sad, then I saw text through the second blank page and was like "Yay!" I thought it would be Melanie narrating, but I was happily wrong.

I also don't think Wanda's new body will effect her and Ian's relationship negatively. If anything it will improve it because they can really be alone without Mel in Wanda's head.

When Wanda got put into Pet's body, it took me about 2 pages to get fully used to it. But then I was fine, Pet's body just seems to fit Wanda. I think if/when the sequels come out most of us will be like "How did I ever think Wanda's new body was weird?" Stephenie Meyer can convince us of anything if she wants to.

I loved this book it maybe even equal to twilight on my list. well i like the fact that Wanda finally got her own body and the way that stephenie described her seems to fit her so perfectly but i do believe that the team between wanda and melanie went so perfect that i got kind of sad when they were separated! but i still loved the ending

I loved the ending. I was hoping throughout the book that Wanda could somehow give Melanie her body back, but Wanda could also still live on Earth to be with her friends. So, that made me really happy when that happened at the end.

You know what's really cool all the Ian lovers (like me) out there? SM said at a Q&A that she rewrote the 2nd half of The Host because Ian grew from just being kyle's wingman to a main love interest. She also said it would have been a "very different ending without Ian." Wow, does that mean she might have really killed Wanda, or made Melanie fade away? Because orginally Jared was the only "boy" as she said. And it was only going to be a love triangle between Wand/Jared/Mel, with no Ian.

I really want to post the link, but I never think of this stuff until after I've seen it and then I can't find it anymore! I saw it on youtube so I'll try to look. Has anyone else heard this too?
