Now that we have a glimpse into The Host what do think will happen next?

How do you think Melanie was captured?

Hmmm i'm not sure exactly what will happen next
Maybe when she's caught she'll be captured with Jared and they'll fall even more in love haha!

I'm not sure all i am guessing is that Melanie wants to find Jared and The Host confuses her feelings with Melanies so they both form a love triangle (i read this on SM's website) in which both love Jared.
I wonder what will/has happened to her brother though...

I don't know what happened to Melanie when she was captured, but obviously it was something violent because she was badly injured. I think that maybe she was trying to protect her brother, or Jared, or something... I have no idea, but I can't wait to find out what it actually is! I think that Wanderer will try to find Jared, and then maybe she'll turn her back on being loyal to the aliens so that she can be with him.

hhmmmm i'd say that after Jared meet up with her and her brother , they stayed in hidding until the aliens found their location. i would say melanie sacrificed/ let herself get caught to let jared excape with her brother - as she loves Jared and kows he would keep her brother safe. after the implantation of wanderer - i imagine Melanie 'wild' ways will interfer with wanderers thoughts, and they mold into one.

the question is - can wandered be removed from Melanie, if she wants to? or is it once they are joined they can;t be seperated?

i think (and not to sound nerdy but this reminds me of carter in Stargate) that near the end - a choice will have to be made - i think wanderer will sacrifice herself so melanie and jared can survive and the human race can blossom again. I believe with Melanies thoughts - wanderer will start to question the policies of her own kind and cause an uprising. i think the prologue foreshadows this with the uneasiness of the doctor alien implanting wanderer - and i think he will definitly play a vital role.,

i definitely agree with epona on this. we know stephenie loves a good love story along with very difficult choices and circumstances that make the love even stronger. but my question is, say wanderer will start to question her "people" and begin to help melanie and jared stay together and help the human race, did the doctor know that this would happen? is this the major problem she was going to face? and if so, why did he keep the body in the first place? why was melanie's body chosen and did the doctor know that melanie's thoughts would interfere with wanderers? interesting...but i guess we will see

Interesting....perhaps the good doctor is part of some sort of resistance?

or he knew the dangers of a wild humans influence on a soul?

it would be interesting though if the 'choice' was made for this reason.

I think though the biggest challenge probably relates to the mission but as usual SM subtly uses forshadow?

My neighbor, the one who works at B&N called me the other day to tell me that she's got the ARC of The Host.

I'm trying to be good, I really am. It's only TWO houses away but I'm going to force myself to wait until May to read it.

But...it's hard!!!

i am eager to see how melanie got captured
i do agree that she probabley sacrificed herself for jamie and/or jared
from the memory scene stephenie gave us you can see just how much she cares and how she sacrificed herself to get her bro some food.
i think shes going to be one of my favorte characters

another thing i want to know is if the wanderer can deattach herself from melanie or let melanie have control. if not, what will be a happy ending for us??

Melanie is a fighter. She wouldn't let anyone she loves get hurt, not if she couldn't do anything about it.

Wanderer is interesting. You would think that an alien so foreign to human emotions would never learn to adapt...but even still.
