Well, I think that Edward's single most important confession was him telling Bella that he could never hurt her because he loved her, but leading up to the, I think that he had two or three other important confessions. Namely, him confessing how he felt upon meeting Bella for the first time, because that really let her know that he was trying so hard for her, and that he truly was extremely dangerous to her. Also, I found that, although this wasn't exactly a confession, when he bolted away from her when she leaned towards him in the meadow and snapped the branch off of the tree, was a very pivital part of the chapter, as he was showing her for the first time how powerful and volatile he could be.

On Bella's part, I think that her most important confession was telling Edward that she couldn't stay away from him. It let him know that she really loved him, and I suppose that that gave him even more incentive to keep her alive.

On the subject of humanity, I feel that this chapter really expressed the idea of it well. Bella shows the fragile, timid part of humanity. She shows how people really are breakable, and how powerless we really are when are guard is down. Although he is not human, I think that Edward shows the strength, both emotional and physical, that the human race possesses, and how, even though some have the power to break others, the kindness of the human heart can win out over temptation.

i LOVE the meadow scene. Its one of my favorite parts in the book besides the one where he spends the night in Bella's room for the first time. It really shows how difficult it is for edward to be with bella but it also shows how much he loves her even though they only knew each other for a short period of time. It also shows how comfortable he is with Bella and how he is at ease with his decision to tell her that he is a vampire. It also shows how trusting Bella is and how she is forgiving and doesnt care about what he did in his past.....It is one of the best romance scenes of all time

The chapter is entitled "Confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?
For Bella, I think the most meaningful confession came when Edward asked her what she was thinking, and she said, 'I was wishing I could know what you were thinking... I was wishing that I could believe that you were real. And I was wishing that I wasn't afraid.' It was the first time since meeting Edward that she verbally admits her fear. And it's not so much fear for her life, but fear that she cannot be with him. It's a very important step on her part towards being able to trust Edward completely; not just with her life, but with her heart.
For Edward, there are so many moments to choose from. Of the two of them, he is the one who bares his soul and exposes nearly all of his secrets to Bella's eyes. But I think the most meaningful moment for him came during his brief narrative that began with her first day of school - how he relived those weeks so that she could understand that even though it is so difficult for him to be around her, it is a small price to pay for how much he does not want to be without her.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?
Well, most people define 'humanity' as having feelings and emotions -- so I think that both Bella and Edward displayed their inherent humanity by opening up to one another and confessing just how much they care for each other. Edward admits that he couldn't live with himself if he ever hurt her, and Bella admits that she would rather die than be apart from him.

I can't say the whole chapter? :D
All right -- I'd have to say that the part that still makes my heart pitter-patter is when Edward says, 'You are the most important thing to me now. The most important thing to me ever.'
And the part where they take turns touching each other; Edward listens to Bella's heartbeat, and she caresses his face. I love this part in the book: 'He opened his eyes, and they were hungry. Not in a way to make me fear, but rather to tighten the muscles in the pit of my stomach and send my pulse hammering through my veins again.'

The chapter is entitled "confessions". What do you think the most meaningful confession on Bella's part, and what is the most meaningful confession on Edward's part?
Bella - That she would rather die than be away from Edward.
Edward - That he would have been better off killing her the first day he saw her than now, as he's fallen in love with her. They are both pretty much admitting to the same thing, just in different ways.

The subject of humanity and what it means to be truly human constantly comes up. How is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?
Edward loses his self control momentarily and frightens Bella by displaying in inhuman strength. When he realizes he's scared her he apologizes and promises not to do it again. He is genuinely upset with himself for what he has done. This displays his humanity, which is brought out by Bella.

When Edward puts his cheek on Bella's neck. It seems so foreign that someone would do that, instead of just kissing her.

I think the confessions of fear and love are the most meaningful.

The way Bella and Edward act towards each other. I think their whole way they interact and care about each other shows a very human nature.

Geez, I don't think I can choose. I was melting throughout the entire chapter.

1. Bella- her love for him
Edward-how much he struggled to not kill her

2. I think the whole chapter basically displays their humanity.

3. Hmm...when Edward is laying in the grass and Bella is sitting beside him tracing his arm.
"I was with Edward in my happy place."

Definitely the most meaningful thing for Bella is that she would sacrifice her own life to save Edward's.

Possibly a fave chapter. I loved the 'lion fell in love with the lamb' part.
The confessions seem to just be further acknowledgment of things they already know about. Like Edward being a vampire-
Bella already knew but this is where her understanding for it all came together.
And Edward finally seemed to get at least a portion of how much Bella cared for him.

This is one of my favorite chapters..
The lion fell in love with the lamb part is very sweet, but what gets me the most is how much Edward loves Bella being human. He says how he loves when she blushes, he listened to her heart beat, and just her very scent makes him crazy. I think Edward doesnt want her to become a vampire because he will lose the things about her that he loves the most. If Bella becomes a vampire she will be like him, cold. Edward loves her warmth and the presence she gives off if she were to be a vampire all of that would be gone..

On Bella's part, I think that the most meaningful confession was when she said that she would rather die than be away from Edward. On Edward's part, it has to be when Edward explained his reaction towards Bella during the first week she was here.

The subject of humanity and what is means to be truly human constantly comes up. How do is the humanity of Bella and Edward best displayed in this chapter?

Practically this whole chapter. The way they express their love and compassion for each other, is an amazing way that they displayed it. With Bella being an actual human, she basically... "rubbed off" on Edward, because before Edward ever met Bella, he thought that he was soulless and damned to an eternity. When Bella crossed his road, there was hope and he touched his human side.

This is the chapter where we really see a romance blooming between Edward and Bella. What was the most romantic moment for you?

The most romantic moment was when Edward was proving to Bella that it was mostly the surprise that caught him off-gaurd. So he tells Bella not to move and he listens to her heartbeat and smells he scent that drives him crazy.
